Bill Withers

Bill Withers is one of those american soul artist you hear little about. He has made a number of classic hits, yet in this day. I believe he and his music truly underated. How can u forget those unforgettable songs such as Ain't no sunshine, Use me Up and the unforgettable classic lean on me. I put Bill Withers in the same line as Curtis Mayfield and Ottis Redding, yet u hear very litle about him these days, if u want anymore info on the classic soul artist u should check out the site

Most neo-soul artists claim Stevie, Marvin, and Donnie as inspirations. I would also include Bill Withers in that group IMO. My day seems perfect if I start it off by listening to "Lovely Day." I've always been fond of his style. Remember the song "No Diggity"? "Grandma's Hands" was sampled for that song.
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

my fave probably is a song called
"can we pretend".
it´s a great acoustic piece featured on
1974 album "´justment".
it´s also on the sweet soul compilation
"babies makin´babies" presented by
?love.

In a recent article in Vibe,he hinted that he he is working on new music and that a new album may appear soon.As far as I know, his last album was 1985's 'Watching You,Watching Me'.

In the meantime, two of his classic 70s albums have just been re-mastered with bonus tracks...

***Bill Withers 'Still Bill'(1973) CD re-master---

"Lonely Town,Lonely Street"
"Let Me In Your Life"
"Who Is He( And What Is He To You)?"
"Use Me"
"Lean On Me"
"Kissing My Love"
"I Don't Know"
"Another Day To Run"
"I Don't Want You On My Mind"
"Take It All In And Check It All Out"
"Lonely Town,Lonely Street" (LIVE) (bonus track)
"Let Me In Your Life" (LIVE) (bonus track)

***Bill Withers 'Menagerie'(1977) CD re-master---

"Lovely Day"
"I Want To Spend The Night"
"Lovely Night For Dancing"
"Then You Smile At Me"
"She Wants To (Get On Down)"
"It Ain't Because Of Me Baby"
"Tender Things"
"Wintertime"
"Let Me Be The One You Need"
"Rosie" (previoulsy unreleased demo) (bonus track)
"Lovely Night For Dancing"(single version) (bonus track)
"Let Me Be The One You Need" (instrumental mix) (bonus track)

Both of these CDs just came out two days ago,and I've been listening to them non-stop...lol...

Are you referring to the "Live At Carnegie Hall" CD? I have that one and it is great.
