I haven't enjoyed Kells' work in years but that uptempo version of When A Woman Loves was great nod

I'm really liking this new album. I haven't liked a R. Kelly album this much since The Chocolate Factory.

I dont know why any rb or rap act at this point would stream their full albums, this R Kelly is all over the place and has been for about 2 weeks now, which will impact the sales big time.

R. Kelly isn't a Rap act and this album just leaked after he streamed it on his site and the main reason it leaked is because people recorded the streaming.

Hes rb and the rap and rb genre's have been hardest hit by the "so called" torrent sites and things like that. This album i first spotted on the site MaxALbums.com last Friday, the day after thanksgiving, so that was a bit of time before the stream which means a rep at the label got an advance which is usually what happens in most of these cases

I hate to do this but R. Kelly is hardly a rap act. He may have done some hip-hop over the years but I wouldn't go that far. lol

"Love Letter" is strictly R&B, which is Kells' strong suit IMHO.

Everyone says i look like a combination of R. Kelly and Prince...that pic just made a certain person in the room feel the need to remind me lol. Anyway, i will take this album over all that crap he's released for the last few years. The lead single is a big block of cheese mixed with bad production, but it's still a step in the right direction nonetheless.

You're right and i feel no reason to solidify that with a pic of myself on Prince.org smile

.

There are surprising hits on this album for me. I haven't enjoyed Kells this much in years. Not Feelin The Love....MJ OTW-ish stuff! If Kells gave that one to Mike, i would of been happy.

The album still has duds ala How Do I Tell Her or Taxi Cab, but man, this is a great leap in the right direction for Kells. His MJ imitations are great! A pretty good album, if not cheesy and wishy washy in places. Also, more variation needs to be had with this sound, i mean, Radio Message sounds identical to When a Woman Loves!

There's no filler on this album but the song I skip on ocassions is 'Taxi Cab'. A nice tune but kinda out of place with the rest of the album's vibe. Other than that this album is near flawless.

It's far from being flawless but it's not bad either. The second part of this album is weak, the first part is near great. There are some moment of true corniness but overall it's his best album since Happy people.

Im kind of disapointed he didn't use "real" instruments on some of the songs, that could have helped to make it a better album.

I must say that I too am looking forward to awrah's new record. He's always best when he is in his lane. Hell he's one of the best we got today when it comes to R&B. When he tries hard to appeal to the youth through hip hop, it just doest work.

Wow. He's so gifted. There's just no denying that he's one of the best male singers to ever grace a stage.

Well, IMO it is smile

I agree with the "real" instruments bit. He needs to hire a full-out band with horns and everything.

Back to that Chocolate Factory/Happy People sound then, though the songs are not quite as good IMO. The Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye style tracks were done better with If I Could Turn Back The Hands of Time.

Taxi Cab is what Dirty Diana would be if Michael Jackson liked women.

Love Is is worthy of peak era S Club 7. Although I heard he was a bigger fan of S Club Juniors...

This is an excellent album. Bar none. Took me back to my childhood listening to real music on 45's. That song called Music straight jacked Marvin and it took me there. Wow. Such talent.

Live instruments could do him wonders. He's a phenomenal vocalist and has proved this in his live performances posted above but the fact that he uses synth horns, drums is holding him back

I agree 1000%. Imagine if he had a full orchestra on "When A Woman Loves." That would be just MINDBLOWING.
