You guys, this is a silly discussion lol There's no need to pit one artist against the other,we can enjoy the talents of Prince and Stevie Wonder.

What r u saying???....Yes, Stevie is OLDER.

Prince is BETTER.

He's better than Jimi on guitar and a better musician than Stevie.

But, I'm not trying to have this conversation AGAIN....just saying that it's bugging me, that's all.

Who cares what I say, this thread is about what Chuckii said....discuss that.

Stevie's a better songwriter and singer.

No he's not. What always amazes me and its the same as MJ fans on here. When you believe things like SW is a better singer etc-where do you even find the energy to come on Prince .org. I'm not saying that you only have to like Prince but I love loads of other stuff and never go on that fan website. To come on here to me is a given that I think Prince is better than the rest.

It's all subjective! This is why these type of debates are so silly and pointless. It's really childish to argue about which artist is the better songwriter and singer. My feeling is,you don't have to pick one artist over the other. You can enjoy both artists. What a concept, huh? wink

There're people in this thread who genuinely feel like making a comparison(for whatever purpose),,,,,and there're the TROLLS lol

I don't care who prefer either over the other,,,,,,JUST as long I don't read the word "overrated" being used to describe them.

I absolutely agree you can like both artists-all I'm saying is I just can't imagine going on different fan websites-I wouldnt have the energy. For me to be on here essentially means for me P has won. That is why I dont ever get the debates on here P v MJ. Pv anybody-I'm on this site-therefore we have a winner.

When I was in junior high, people used to compare Prince to Michael Jackson. This was in the mid-80s lol After all these years,I can't believe that people are still playing that childish game.

Comparisons are bullshit. I enjoy Stevie and Prince equally like I enjoy MJ equally alongside them and Marvin and Donny and on and on.

Jesus Christ, people just wanna argue! lol

The thread would be locked if I saw that word to describe either of them. lol

Don't care who is overrated...

What bugs me is that someone is very, very, very underrated by the public.

This someone happens to be the very best entertainer ever (subjectively)

Stevie, MJ, Aretha, Jimi...all loved loads by the general public.

Prince is not (hell, he can't even get love on his own name-sake website from some of ya'll)

That's the only point I was trying to make.

When I hear, "Prince's song/cd/guitar playing is the best since...so n so"....why can't it just be

"the best ever", because alot of his stuff truly is. IMO

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I personally think Prince is one of the greatest artists of all time so I don't get why it's a general thought that most of us don't look at him in the same regard as other artists. Maybe some others don't but I do regard him in the same group with Stevie, MJ, and 'em.

70's Stevie > All of Princes career.

Prince is too prolific, he's polluted his legend with too much fucking crap too fucking often, and he's now as annoying as hell. Stevie is just a class act all round.

IMO.

Stevie could play all of Prince's tunes on his harmonica..

Really, he could

That's not a put down on the lil man, but, yeah, he could

It seems that just because some people feel Prince is underrated they must overrate him. I will tell you this, most people feel that their favorite act is underrated when it's not true or not. Also, just because you feel your favorite act is underrated doesn't mean that they're better than those who are held in a much higher regard either.

Jeez...

Blows out of the water? Wow.

I would say that Prince is definitely more an entertainer than Stevie when it comes to shows n stuff, because well Prince can be creative in that area cause he can see. That being said, people need to go to a Stevie concert, Stevie can still entertain a crowd.

Musicality is different. Stevie can play ANYTHING Prince can play. And I don't mean insturments, I mean different styles of music. Stevie does stay in his soul/pop/funk/world music/ zone while Prince plays with more different styles, which I do give credit for. So its not a matter of whos better inas somuch as whos music you prefer, which for me would be Stevie.

I think Stevie best, which very few can touch is melodies, which even through his "lesser" albums which he was doing more pop oriented and current music, his melodies were strong and interesting. I can't say the same for Prince post 80's output; sometimes he'll get into a groove and just stick there without really exploring a song, and he does that too much on his 90's albums for me, except for Gold Experience and most of Emancipation. On the bright side, Prince prolific nature of recording is impressive and great; I'll always put my ear on a new Prince tune cause I know when the man is AWN it, hes awn it.

Vocals? I think they both possess the same amount of versatility but in different areas. Whoever said Stevie sounds the same on every song isn't listening.

Prince edges out Stevie on a lot of things, but it really comes down to what type of music moves you more. Prince does NOT blow Stevie out of the water talent wise though.

spit obvious but is that the only reason Prince tops Stevie?? lol

Loved by the general public? I think Prince has been more visible by the general public since 2004; How he handles being visible is purley up to him, as you know. However I think most will say at least Prince is a talented genius and legendary. Heck, look at the reception he got at the BET Awards. He had to really shut them up so he could talk, lol.

When it comes to his albums, I think the perception of them is because of how he markets his material nowadays. If he would release music more traditional channels, like he did with Musicology and 3121, I think people would be more aware of his new output. Besides its mostly the critics who say that, hmm?

For me. Other than Prince being super prolific, which for me sometimes I wish he would make an effort on some of his product instead of just releasing it, I feel both artist are on the same level of skill, musically

I feel you. I just yhink they are both geniuses in their own personl way . Both are different but yet the same. They are from totally two different generations. Obviously, people who love Stevie are ging to say Stevie and those who love Prince are going to say Prince. I think what Chuckii was just saying was that those 2 were his biggest influences ( I dont think he was comparing the two at all )

You honestly cant say one is better than the other...

They're just better than everyone else. lol
