I don't know how that song went down in Denver, St. Louis, and San Antonio because the only city he really gave any props (in that warped perspective) is Oakland. He talks about St. Louis being like Compton because L.A. made it that way. Denver got the worst of it because they only "wanna be like Compton".

Being a young guy from Oakland when this came out I liked the song, but I always wondered how it went over in those other cities.

St. Louis is mos def a tough city, San An, I've never been to the rough parts.

He only really dissed Denver ("they wanna be like Compton").

I remember hearing about the brawl that broke out at his show there before he recorded this track. He got into a bit of trouble cause he and the Second II None/AMG crew kicked some ass at that show.

Personally, I think he was right..."They need to stop watchin that Colors and Boyz n the Hood!"

On a side note...I never understood why he spelled his name QUIK. It was pretty well known when he came on the scene that he was from Treetop Piru...you'd think he would want the CK to be prominent.

one of my favorite songs by him. That bassline is sick.

I've been wearing off his "Quikstrumentals" set lately. The man is criminally underrated.

Him along with Spice 1 are some of the more underrated rappers from the West in the 90s. Way better than folks like Mack 10 who is more famous than both.

Same here . You are just like me . Dj Quik is my favorite rapper ( as well as Ice Cube ) . Quik is my absolute favorite . Prince is in my top favorite singers ( Stevie Wonder is Number 1 and Michael Jackson , James Brown and Rick James are with up as well )

Which is why it makes no sense. Most bloods go out of their way to display any "CK" they can.

Then again that's why Quik was so dope...he was always a little different than all the rest.
