Details on "Florence Ballard film" announced (uhhhh....)
SPIRIT OF LIFE FILMS TO RELEASE BIOPIC OF FLORENCE BALLARD, STARRING R & B SONGSTRESS - FAITH EVANS
Atlanta, GA, November, 2010— For years the true story of the Supremes’ original lead singer, Florence Ballard, has been diluted and muted. Finally the truth is set to be told as never before in a new biopic by Spirit of Life Films titled ”BLONDIE” – THE FLORENCE BALLARD STORY staring R & B singing sensation Faith Evans as the legendary Florence Ballard.
Based on the book “The Lost Supreme” by Peter Benjaminson, the screenplay for the biopic, entitled “Blondie,” was written by Karen Spencer and Roy Fegan, who will also be producing the film along with Glenn S.O.N Faide. “Not only is this about re-birthing Florence Ballard’s legacy and giving her the accolades that she has deserved for 34 years, it also offers her children an opportunity to know their mother better and celebrate her life,”says Karen Spencer, a partner at Spirit of Life Films.
In addition to her striking resemblance to Ballard, Faith Evans has had similar life success and challenges and has the natural vocal talent to play the talented Flo. Faith has prepared for the role by spending valuable time with Ballard’s family and studying her music and history.
Directed by Bille Woodruff (Bring It On, Beauty Shop, Honey) and cast by Aleta Chappelle (The God Father II, Beverly Hills Cop II, Boomerang, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge), the epic will be filmed in Atlanta, GA and is set to release in Summer 2011. An all-star soundtrack will be released featuring various artists including Lauryn Hill, Kelly Price and Faith Evans.

SPIRIT OF LIFE FILMS is focused on a mission to educate and inspire filmmakers for the next generation. Karen Spencer and Glenn S.O.N Faide are blazing a trail as the leaders of Spirit of Life Films. They have documented the hip hop group “The Lost Boys” and they are excited to embark on their first feature film, ”BLONDIE” – THE FLORENCE BALLARD STORY. The film industry is looking forward to their line-up of entertaining truth-based biopics and films.

If it is made, it'll be straight to video or a TV movie. I don't see a big enough audience that would be interested in Flo. Faith is too old anyway, like Jimmy Stewart in The Spirit Of St. Louis. that too, but also I think there are folks who will never let this movie be made like one Berry Gordy or even Diana Ross-it'll shed some more light on who they really are

I can remember as a kid in Detroit in the early 80's hearing about how this woman basically met her end and the things they did to her they'll never let this happen.

They can read this book, which is based on interviews Flo did a year or two before she died. The author was planning to interview her some more, but she passed before that could happen. Faith Evans? Hmm never would have thought of her to play Florence, but I can picture it actually. I think she does resemble her. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

I don't have a problem with Faith getting a shot at it. She did have a brief acting role in The Fighting Temptations. Let's get some new blood in there and see what happens. Don't laugh at my funk

Florence's elder sister wasn't consulted:
Recently I received several emails from my fans inquiring about a movie concerning my sister Flo. Neither I nor any of my siblings have been contacted about any such movie. I have no idea who these people are or where they came from, so at the advice of my attorney, I can't comment any farther at this time. I am profoundly grateful for your support! Robert Townsend should produce. He has a history of music films like Five Heartbeats, Jackie's Back and The Natalie Cole Story. PRINCE: Always and Forever
