Smokey Robinson's Marketing Deal With Cracker Barrel

October 2010

Smokey Robinson has teamed up with Cracker Barrel restaurants to release a new album titled Now and Then. It will be available exclusively at Cracker Barrel locations and will feature classic tracks and live cuts.

"We are very excited to work with Smokey Robinson. Now and Then is a perfect CD project for Cracker Barrel because so many Americans, including me, have an emotional connection with Smokey Robinson. Who hasn't cried 'The Tears of a Clown?'" Cracker Barrel VP Peter Keiser says in a press release.

The home-style restaurant chain has become a major player in country music over the last few years, but according to Keiser, Cracker Barrel is interested in the entire spectrum of American music.

"Our overall music offerings reflect who we are as a country, and so country music is an important part of the program. But it isn't the only part. We already have a wide variety of artists represented in our American Legends CD series, and we are pleased to be adding Smokey Robinson to our exclusive music program," he adds.

Smokey Robinson Now and Then hits Cracker Barrel stores on November 1.

hah! That's the best that fuckin' crook could come up with??? "Hey man give me some of them blueberry pancakes, that hashbrown casserole, some scrambled eggs hard with cheese, some biscuits with gravy and oh yeah and that new Smokey album." ohgoon I'd rather pour syrup all over his cd rather than wasting my neopolitan cocoanut bar and macaroon money buying or listen to that shit.

I guess Smokey doesn't have any vegetarian or vegan fans. I've heard of Starbucks releasing CDs, but not this place.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Don't hate, Smokey's still great. Just got done watching him do "Tracks Of My Tears" live on my Blu-Ray of the R&R Hall of Fame blu-ray.

If it's got live tracks of his classics, I'll hunt it down.

True dat. Smokey has absolutely nothing to prove. Dude can make a living off of

what he's already done and still perform at a high level. At least he isn't out recording embarrassing remakes of his classic work with bullshit artists i.e Drake like some other old dude i know. lol

Time Flies When You're Having Fun, his self-released 2009 album, attests to his enduring strength as a songwriter. Give it a listen if you haven't already.

lol I'm sure there's a Cracker Barrel on the next exit by your nearest interstate...that or an IHOP down the street. lol If there's neither, then we know there has to be Shoney's in your town somewhere.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
