I hate Evanescence with a passion.

I hate many of those other Hot Topic/mall-rock bands...

All-American Rejects, 30 Seconds to Mars, Alien Ant Farm, etc.

Creed and Nickelback are hideous.

Most country I can't stand, especially Taylor Swift.

Most current Top 40 is utter crap.

*** The Evil Troika ***

Natalie Merchant

Ani DiFranco

Jewel

Green Day and Weezer: some good tunes here and there, but WAY overrated.

Most lo-fi Indie crap. Forlorn strumming and rambling, atonal lyrics recorded in some dorm-room by a stoner and his friends? Pffft.

(not that there's anything wrong w/ being a stoner, per se....)

Korn and Limp Bizkit. Pure awfulness.

Staind.

I was with you, until this: you got something against sweet voices?

Jewels' Pieces Of You is fantastic, especially so considering she wrote all the songs and was only 19 at the time, granted she went off the rails after that, but then Alanis hasn't done shit of note since Jagged Little Pill. It's a very moving album, the sweeping melodies combined with the childlike, sometimes operatic voice makes it sound heavenly.

Natalie Merchant's career hasn't produced a solid album imo, but she's a good, consistent songwriter with a lovely voice. Whassa matter with you guv!

Just a personal reaction to their voices. Jewel just oozes whininess and over-emotes, IMHO. Natalie has always struck me as hideously pretentious and her voice just leaves me cold. I'm sure they're both very talented, but... for some reason they rub me the wrong way. One of those totally illogical perfsonal preference things. cool

It's annoyed me to hear how crap Jewel later became, and NM had that song about River Phoenix which was a bit pretentious if she didn't know him.

Justin Timberlake

Usher

All current boy/girl bands & manufactured pop

Nickelback fuckin suck ass

Kenny rogers

Basement Jaxx are fucking awful

Cher

Poison

Coldplay are DIRE

Razorlight are fucking dreadful

Will Young sounds like a drunk cat being strangled

Robbie Williams is overrated & talentless

U2 are overrated, although i'll give them credit for Achtung Baby, that was a good album

Kings of Leon are pretty crap too

Never was a huge fan of The Beatles

Jay Z is an overrated fat prick.

high school musical and all that is fine for kids you know, and some of the clearly throwaway pop that young kids like is fine for them.

Add to that list GaGa and Lil Wayne and Beyonce then we have ourselves a list. biggrin

Taylor Swift... mad People tell me she's such a nice, sweet innocent little girl who sings sweet, nice songs..well guess what-- I still don't like her.

It was nice for a while but then she sings about the damn same boyfriend, the damn same love life-- sooner or later, she needs to release something to prove that she's more than just a teen singer. I swear. I can't believe her critics praise her to high ends.

Also, how many boyfriend did this girl have already? Yet she's stil Ms Innocent. Okay... >.>

Taio Cruz.... I dislike his dynamite song! cool

Other wannabe R&B singers that are sprouting nowadays. I don't know their names but they all look the same.

Justin Bieber... >.> He seems like a decent kid but his music sucks!

Lady Gaga... I admit she has talent but I can't stand her... I have a love/hate relationship with her... lol Her personality and over the top outfits is just too much. Trying hard much?

Jay Z... I think Kanye is better than this so called King of Hip Hop.

T-Pain... Aptly named because his music causes pain to whoever hears it.

Soulja Boy... Nough' said.

Nicki Minaj... Cute personality but I still can't understand the hype.

Lil Wayne... >.>

I thunk that's it. I'm sure there's more but I can't remember right now. I'm only naming the current artists of today.

I didn't know she had any musical ability whatsoever, besides the singing, but what irks me about her is what I percieve to be forced eccentricity, she's no Bjork.

She dares to be different which is at least more than most. Pop music is dead anyway.

maybe it is forced...you need some sort of gimmick when trying to break the mass market ... but she has talent to back it up...most decent artists have aknowledged her talent...she is certainly the best of the chart music at present...

lol

i don't think he's smarmy ; he doesn't seem arrogant or self indulgent to me

he comes off as a likable guy imo

(i have to admit i only saw him on tv a few times)

The majority of the artists mentioned in Music: Non-Prince. If I was American I'm sure I'd like them but being European I have far greater taste.

Anything usually on MTV too. As soon as I see some black/Asian guy start strutting and rapping a little bit of me dies. It's shit. Stop it.
