She really is a pleasure to see live, i caught her in London in the summer, amazing show.

I'm going to see her again in December.

Yeah it just struck me that this was from her Metropolis album. And she based the entire album on the character Cyndi Mayweather.

I think that is my fav. video or her so far....So awesome!

Hey no problem Mikey, absolutely no need to apologize. I just figured you may have thought this was a new vid of hers, but was letting you know it wasn't new, as it was posted here and on her site some time ago. I have no problem with it being posted again, and why should I? I always admired her music, since the time she was on the soundtrack for Outkast's movie "Idlewild", that came out in 2006, and she appeared as a backup singer on Jay Leno's show, with members of Outkast, around the time the movie came out. She sang on the movie soundtrack in the songs "Call the Law" and "In Your Dreams".

And so what is really your point? There's no issue here. I figured Mikey just discovered that vid, and maybe thought it was a new release of Janelle's, and I just informed him that it was out for some time now, and posted here as well. So don't worry, nothing for you to get twisted over, as Mikey didn't take my comment with offense. Life goes on, try and get the best out it.

No...hehe, i have been following her career since Metropolis.

I did a search (using the org search box) and could not find a post regarding this vid, so i thought i would post it.

I must have missed your post with this video before.

Mikey, it's no issue really.. Anyway, she's an awesome performer isn't she? I read she had her heart set on starring on broadway, early in her career. I would not be surprised if her dream to star in a broadway play actually comes true. She definitely has the talent to star in one.

Yes, she is very good in concert. I loved the cd's, and had heard so much about her being this amazing performer. I have been to a ton of gigs over the years and have seen lots of amazing artists including Prince many times, so i was like, yeeeaaah, ok! lets go see Janelle Monae and see what's what. My expectations were high, and she delivered on every single one.

It's not often i'm rendered speechless, but really, i thought it was that good.

I'm travelling over 400 miles to see her again in December in the UK.

I can't wait.

I just got back from her seeing her in concert at the Warfield and thought she was great. Not only is she an incredible singer, but she is beautiful. I have been to over 200 concerts and she is one heck of a performer, she has great stage presence. I will go see her every chance I get.

I was about 5 or 6 people back on the floor in the center and she has the cutest smile.

Yeah, that's an awesome song. The time signature changes and complexity of the percussion line are sick. Funny to hear the reference in a pop song.
