I was thinking she was just some boring diva, because I never knew much about her, but oh, was I wrong! Does she sing jazz because that's the only thing she can sing? Isn't her voice pretty much gone?

Not totally. But it was affected by physical abuse and drug abuse so it's had some effect.

I enjoyed the show too. Least she kept it real and didn't beat around the bush of her ordeal like Melba Moore.

I remember when her house burnt down, it was on Jet(I think back in 2000). I felt for her, all of her possessions turned to dust, I loved her attitude though, she took it in stride and kept it moving when her children weren't physically hurt.

Miss Howard is def alright in my book. Extremely gorgeous and cool in person too

And her cameo in Malcolm X is what turned me as a fan of hers & Billie Holiday

And yeah I knew she was in "Malcolm X" the movie as Billie Holiday but I forgot all about she was in "Poetic Justice" as one of the hair stylist's in the salon.

Miki's friend reminded me of what Nina Simone said back in the late 60s, "Don't compare me to Billie Holiday, thats the kiss of death".

Thats exactly what happend, same scenario its downright scary. The upside of this situation is though, Miki is alive and well to talk about it.

Why didn't Unsung talk about the Anita mess?

I remember seeing interviews and performances with Miki back in the day where she was as high as a kite! I knew this episode of 'Unsung' would be anything but boring.
