Jams you heard one or two times and never heard again....

What are some jams you may have heard on the radio maybe one or two times and never heard them on the radio again...ever....?

I remember hearing "(Gimme Some Of That) Thang" from Videeo on the radio back in 1982 when it was first released. I loved it instantly, got my boom box out and kept hoping they would play it again so I could record it but they never played it again. I couldn't find it in the record stores either.

"You're Too Late" by Fantasy (1980)---heard it a few times on the radio in 1980,then they just stopped playing it.

I recognize that label logo hmmm was it the same one from Texas that produced Margie Joseph's "Knock Out" & Libra's "Ride This Pony"?

I remember that one! They played it a lot in 1980 in my area. I guess it's just according to what part of the country you live in as to whether a song goes over well.

It sounds like a Larry Levan selection.

"Working Girl" by Cheri (1983)---Her summer of '82 hit "Murphy's Law" was a huge smash but when she returned in '83 with "Working Girl",radio stations ignored it for some reason.I heard this song only a few times on our local R&B station.I guess the subject matter was too controversial? A woman talking about her life as a prostitute.

Here in the Bay Area, our radio stations didn't play it very often. It's a shame too because this is a great song.

Yes it is. I posted "Knock Out" on another thread and the youtube video has a picture of it on the Jive record label but my 45 is on the Houston label.

As for Libra's "Ride This Pony", that's another song that applies to this thread. I heard it maybe two or three times on the radio and a few times in the skating rink but never heard it again. You are the ONLY person that I've seen that is aware of this song's existence these days. Hell, even the folks I was shaking ass side by side with while this song was playing back in 1982 don't remember it anymore. lol

I've been trying find her album myself(assuming she released one) but the damn thing ain't nowhere to be found, can't even find that single either. Tried to get some infos about her through the net, but the only thing I came up with was that she fell into the drug scene shortly after that song, and a decade later she was born again Christian.

That is one hard ass groove drool

The guitar-chops and synth-grips are tight indeed. I'm not really sure if Libra ever recorded an album though hmmm

Also not sure if this label's catalog online is already complete : Houston Connection Record...at Discogs

But Libra's single is quite easy available at eBay : libra pony items - Get gr... eBay.com!

Yep batting eyes in his rare baritone forms.

He had one of the richest baritones ever,,,,,he said that it hurt him alot to sing in that key, thats why he always hated singing in baritone.

Yeah, that song didn't get as much attention as "Boogie Oogie Oogie" did a year earlier.
