Minnie Ripperton watch the Unsung marathon this weekend.
Had to pay tribute to the Perfect Angel
The girl had some pipes. And she was beautiful as well. Her late 60's look was fierce! There are pics of her when she was with an early band called the Rotary Connection.

I will have to check this out. (going to youtube... Prince really cuts his own nose (concerning youtube)... ya know?) "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

Oh that's right. Her husband wrote that song for her. It is written in first person from a flower's perspective. Pretty clever. That is when songwriters really knew how to write. I am really beginning to get into 70's music for the lyrical content, the rhythm, the musicality...
Okay, I will stop there.. I am starting to sound like In Living Color Booked on Phonics...

I Minnie Riperton. I would love to hear someone cover Edge of a Dream but if not, there's always her original masterpiece.

I agree i love Edge of a Dream and i would love to hear either Chante Moore or Mariah Carey do this song....I believe Chante Moore would do a GREAT job like she has with other Minnie Riperton classics paying homage to a TRUE legend as only Chante Moore can, i applaude her!!

I'm sorry, this does not get you out of .
Have mother take you to the record store and then treat her to lunch. I'm sure she'll be as shocked as I was, that you only own 2 Ripperton albums. I can hear her now, David, David, David, boy, haven't I schooled you?

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Am I confusing her with someone else or is she SNLs Maya Rudolph's mom? She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies....

So you never heard "Come to My Garden"? "Perfect Angel"? "Adventures in Paradise"? "Minnie"?
Shame. J/K but seriously she has some great material. I know you buy a lot of stuff, hopefully there's a lot of Minnie at your store.
