pimp2 I dig Z.Z. Hill. You've just about listed all my favorites, with the exception of:

Everybody Knows About My Good Thing and We Can Do This Again from the Down Home album.

I'm A Blues Man and Steal Away from the I'm A Blues Man album.

"Cheatin In The Next Room" music

even though it might hurt me,I just can't be your fool

I'd rather step on my own heart and break it,than to be used

"Shade Tree Mechanic" is the bomb!!! As a kid I always thought he was saying "Cause I'm chained to my caddy!"

There's another one not listed that I really used to dig as a kid (my dad played this stuff endlessly). Don't remeber the title but the lyric was something like...

"We gonna hit that wang dang doodle all night long!"

Forgive me, I know that aint the lyrics, but somebody's gotta know that track.

I love some Mississippi funk too. Out of our numerous groups we had, this was my favorite....

And we had our own local dance show version of "Soul Train" called "Black Gold" in which the dancers put the Soul Train dancers to shame. This was the show's theme song.....

That song is off his 1975 United Artists Records album Keep On Lovin' You.

Oh yeah...ZZ was the man!

As I said, I was raised on this stuff. My dad had/has all of it on wax...Muddy Waters, BB King, you name it.

ZZ Hill and Bobby Blue Bland were my favorites as a kid.

ZZ and Johnnie Taylor are BIG here in Dallas. Especially in the hood. It's nothing to see a 20-something riding down the road blasting "Down Home Blues".

My birthday was last month and I had a few friends over. My best friend brought a 20 something year old piece of trade with him. Being the good host that I am, I asked him if there was anything he wanted to hear since he didn't seem to be enjoying himself very much with all the funk, disco, and house music playing. I did warn him however, that I have no shit hop so don't even think about that. To my surprise, he wanted to hear Johnnie Taylor "Who's Making Love". I played it for him and then continued on with some more funk. Pretty soon, he spoke up and wanted to hear some Bobby Rush. I played "Wearin' It Out" and then he wanted to hear some Denise LaSalle, J. Blackfoot, The Soul Children, KoKo Taylor, Betty Wright, Latimore, and stuff like that all night long.

I played his little ass a nice long set of bluesy type songs as we filled his wine glass, filled his gin and juice glass, and kept the beer flowing all night long. His little ass got drunk as hell and he was having a better time than we were. We were just about getting ready to have that dick when my brother arrived and that was the end of that. Oh well, it was fun trying. lol
