Forgotten hit of the day: Lindsey Buckingham, "Trouble" (1982) This was easily Lindsey's biggest solo hit, making it all the way to #9 on the Hot 100 in early 1982. Totally relaxing soft rock song by him with fantastic light guitar work. It went to #3 at CHR/Pop. There are some melodic similarities to Fleetwood Mac's 1982 hit, "Gypsy".

Not into him as an artist so I can't comment much, but its a nice tune. As you said, its very much in that lite westcoast AOR field. It reminds me abit of 80's Roy Orbison. Of course, if Roy covered it, it would be alot more dramatic vocally, but thats just a general vibe I get from it.

Not forgotten by me. Ha, just this past weekend I pulled up Law n Order to hear Trouble and Bwana again. I remember him doing these on SNL back then.

I thought his most popular song was the theme from the Vacation movie. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Chart positions doesn't always reflect popularity. Stevie Wonder's Isn't She Lovely was never released as a single and never charted, but it is one of Stevie's most popular songs. It's known by a lot of people because of its use in those films - as a stand-alone song, not so much. Technically, though, I called Trouble his biggest solo hit, which is true.Lindsey is an awesome musician who is often under-appreciated. | |

Nice to see Buckingham get some love here. If you haven't heard it go out & downoad Buckingham & Nicks, the solo album before they joined Fleetwood Mac. Its been tied up in litigation so it may never get re-released. Its the blueprint for everything Fleetwood Mac did when the duo joined the group. |
