I was looking in the Sunday circulars to see which retailers would have the CD on sale. To my surprise, the only circular that listed the CD as a new release for Tuesday was Target. No mention of the CD in the Best Buy or Kmart circulars. Like her previous album, I guess Def Jam has no intention of promoting Mimi's holiday CD. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! I like the album it is pretty well rounded and well done!
Alot more musical than the last one
Oh Santa
Christmas In The Air Again
When Christmas Comes (that song definitley has that soulful vibe she worked on songs like Circles, Mine Again and Fly Like A Bird)
I actually dug Here Comes Santa Claus, with it's party vibe...although I thought JD's production was sort of repetitive.
O Come Ye Faithful - Really nice, and nice to hear her mother hit those high vocals.
All I Want For Christmas (Extra Festive) a nice new take on it..pretty much sounds the same with some extra production and vocals.
Auld Lang Syne - I wish she would do a whole album of dance pop like this...the sound that she kind of skipped out on doing for her remixes in the last two albums....I enjoyed this.
I give it a 8/10

I love the fuller voice on that one. reminds me of when she strayed from it for a while until she got back to using it with We Belong Together.
I also love her vocals on Noel, Charlie Brown & Christmas Time, they remind me of the smoky, understated vocals of her earlier records (Vanishing, The Wind etc.)
and I absolutely love what she did with Little Drummer Boy. the humming at the beginning (and end) is so beautiful it's in my head the whole freaking time!
ok that is a lot of loving. on another note, she has just finished filming two videos: O Come Ye Faithful & Auld Lang Syne!

You didn't like the last disc? I just picked up the current one and still plowing through it but wondering what others think. Cinnie??? So far sounds very reminiscent of previous cuts but love the first track. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

No...the sound was very forced and not properly put together. I liked a couple tracks, and could have worked as great funk instrumentals, but once Pharell started 'singing' or rapping..he kinda destroyed it in my opinion...where ..on In Search Of...it was fine....maybe it is the songwriting. Well then I think you'll dislike this one as well. I just went through it and if I never heard it again I'd be okay although I'm betting 2 or 3 uptempo songs will grow on me should I hear them again. It's more mellow then I expected and with the same clumsy lyrics and disjointedness. However, there ares songs on Seeing Sounds that I can truly dig--Sooner or Later being a favorite. Not sure if anything is going to come from this one as it's not really my cup o' tea and there's none of the dreamy tracks that I like from P which I guess he does more for others than for N.E.R.D. I'm listening to the CD now and I must admit I'm pleasantly surprised about how good she sounds on most of these songs. On the slower songs, she sounds simply beautiful! I'm really digging "When Christmas Comes". I wasn't expecting much but this is her best CD since "Mimi". This disc will definately be in heavy rotation in my CD player for many more holiday seasons to come! "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I thought Christmas Time Is In The Air Again was my favorite but I find myself keeping When Christmas Comes on repeat. I especially love the da da das at the end. It's a holiday tune that will easily get regular play. I also accidentally discovered that slow beginning of It's A Wrap follows Christmas... In The Air Again very nicely on a playlist. I actually didn't buy the album from couple/three years ago, because it seemed to be more of a rock fusion going on there - which you could argue was the defining trait of their debut compared to their outside productions. The look of this album - helmet, austin powers font, paisley layout, seems like 60s (rock) throwbacks, which I was worried was their approach but from what I've heard so far, its more like what you expect from NERD - synth prog Neptunes. I am liking tracks 11-14 which are on the deluxe edition. The Daft Punk produced song is cool too. Keep in mind I thought Pharrell's solo was brilliant, so I actually adore his demo-y vocal style. EDIT: You know I listened to new NERD again today and it actually is giving me a late 60s vibe on a lot of it. [Edited 11/5/10 8:45am]

I looooove Mariah's Christmas album. Really nice choice of traditional songs mixed with the new. She sings great on this album and I definitely expect to be playing it a lot this season and in years to come. The production also has a timeless feel throughout most of the album.
