Okay... I just heard a "snippet" of this song, her voice is surprisingly low... not enough 2 make an honest assessment of her talent, or lack thereof.

LMP's new album comes out in April. I have not heard it all but the single "Lights Out" is very Sheryl Crow-like. But not as good.

The only good thing I could say about LMP is that she hooked Pete Yorn up with the original Elvis backup singers for his new cover of "Suspicious Minds"...

(1/21/03, 3 p.m. ET) -- Lisa Marie Presley's debut solo album, To Whom It May Concern, is due to be released April 8 on Capitol Records.

The singer got some help with the project from industry heavyweights including Eric Rosse (Tori Amos), Andrew Slater (Fiona Apple), Glen Ballard, and Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan frontman Billy Corgan. Presley also collaborated with her first husband Danny Keough.


"Danny's my best friend in the world and we write all the time," said the 34-year-old daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. "And he's a huge part of why I'm singing and writing, so I wasn't going to have him not be a part of this record."

As for her work with Corgan, Presley explained, "Billy's been a friend of mine for a while, ever since I started writing."

"I played him my first few songs that I was thinking of putting on the record and he was, 'Eh, no, no! Okay I hear where you're trying to go, but no,'" she said.

She added,"He was so hardcore with me. A year later he heard I was progressing as a writer. I said, 'Come on and write a song with me.' He's good at dark. This is dark, but the two of us combined with the dark writing thing, it was like, okay, somebody just shoot me right in the head. So it had to be taken up a bit, so it would not make you want to kill yourself if you heard it."

Presley penned nearly all of the songs on her album including the title track, which calls for an end to prescribed drugging of children--a cause that she's been very vocal about. She even addressed a congressional hearing about legal psychotropic drugging, and the drug-free alternatives to it on September 26 of last year.

The complete track listing of To Whom It May Concern includes "S.O.B.," "The Road Between," "Lights Out," "Better Beware," "Nobody Noticed It," "Sinking In," "Important," "So Lovely," "Indifferent," "Gone," and "To Whom It May Concern."

"This is me. This record is me. Every song is me. You're going to see who I really am and not what the tabloids say or whatever anyone has to say about me," Presley said.

I'm sure this album will be a masterpiece. She's been working on it and talking about it for the last decade or whatever..
