haters are going to hate, and MJ fans are going to feel insecure for no reason, I liked it, the ballet scene was awesome, the pictures were beautiful and the music was pretty good (and I usually dont like Kanye)

So if u did NOT like this piece.......u are a hater?

Where have YOU been? lol

If you comment on or criticize a favorite artist's video vanity project and you are sure to get accused of being a "hater."

Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

Haters are always waiting for him to make a move, we both know that. He's no way one of my fav artist, but a lot of people are acting as if he said he was trying to drop science with this clip ...

Nobody's waiting for anybody to hate on anything, c'mon now. The world doesn't revolve on Kanye or the org's reaction for that matter,,,,,if YOU like it, fuck what everybody else thinks.

All this passe "hater" shit is not gonna change folks' minds or make them bite their tongues, and why the hell should they? They have the right to voice what they don't like about the video, just as much as you have the right to voice what you like about it. It is what it is.

Yeah really but you're really instigating and fanning the flames of hate, by playing a pseudo devils advocate. Stop pretending you're watching this like you're watching a snow globe.

It's one thing for a fan to defend or condemn an artist, but yu've just admitted you're neither.

Then that makes you an instigator. A biased one at that.

Music will always be music, and subjectivity will protect a person's taste.

This discourse isn't about Kanye's music.

It is merely questioning his artistic integrity, because of comments that he himself has said.

Kanye does have large career, considering he has limited talents. But so does Owl City.

We don't live in a world where "Talent's" are important anymore. Thats the reason the industry is in it's present shape. However Limited as they may be, it's safe to say Kanye supersedes the ordinary industry drone. There is something very promising about him, despite his arrogance.

However he grossly overcompensates for what he doesn't have.

The thing is Im not even talking about people on this message board, Im talking in general, if dude could pull off something like Thriller, people would still hate on him for obvious reason, that's all Im saying. Trust me, I don't care at all if people bash him or not, Im just saying that a lot of people don't give him a proper chance because of what he represents.

Listen, I tought the thing was good, and I think people are free to like or not BUT I feel like some people are just biased because it's him, and they feel insecure about people like him, I probably would be too if I cared enough to follow everything he does and says, the fact is, except from the Taylor Swift incident and the calling Bush a racist episode, I don't know much about dude extra musical life.

Fair enough,

Then don't comment,

Until you've found out.

Because the progression of events exceeds those two stupid actions.

People are loved and hated for reasons.

This isn't the marvel universe and Kanye isn't Spiderman.

Say whatever you want, but i am not feeling any heart in this. What I see is artificially created "drama". And it´s not just about Kenye or whoever. I am just watching today´s musical scene and all I see is people trying so hard to be edgy, cool, "smart". But looking at them, any of them...Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Kenye, Ne-Yo...I don´t feel personality, I don´t feel passion, I don´t feel any heart, I just see people who are "trying to be something or be someone". Putting MJ aside, show me someone today with passion of Freddie Mercury, Janis Joplin, James Brown, Elvis, Prince whoever... They didn´t need special effects and all this to capture you and that is what I am missing so hard these days...all those artist are trying to "impress" you, but there´s nothing impressive about them and that is why I have hard times "buying their products" cause to me it´s fake. And fake does not impress me.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

The film is awesome! The album is going to AMAZING.

Kanye & Gaga are the only artists I can think of that are making Pop... Art!

Pop music is in a better state than it has been since the early nineties because of these 2 artists. This is an event, cant wait to see it again in HD smile

See that's what I don't get - who has the right to say which artists are more passionate about what they do than others? Their passion relies solely on the image they choose to project on their audiences? (So therefore your measure of their passion relies on your impression of them). Just because this whole futuristic robot phase passed through pop, doesn't mean none of them are passionate, the phase is over now and already pop's whole mood has changed drastically.

Rihanna's new video is beautiful, bright and happy - yet the Org hated how "simple" it was. Gaga puts plenty of soul into her live/tour performances, but the Org doesn't have the attention span to look them up. One look at Kanye's twitter shows how much Runaway means to him, among other aspects of his art. The whole concept of his releasing a new song every Friday tradition was to constantly bring more (spontaneous) music to his fans and get different (rap/R&B) artists collaborating again - but the Org ignored it.

Prince is a pretty lame example of passion, considering how distant and non caring he was for his music in the 90s.

You say "They didn't need special effects" yet Bey's Single Ladies was also called lame and too simple on here, even after it became a pop culture phenomenon.

Modern artists simply cannot win on this site.

Good Lord....

You got part of Mozart's Requiem (Lacrymosa) playing in the beginning???

This idea of using classical music as an intro to your song is hardly new. MJ did the same thing with Will You Be There...only with Beethoven's 9th symphony.

Even his title Runaway (as someone mentioned before) looks like the Thriller title.

Please Kanye...quit borrowing so much. And MJ's bust there eek

Still an interesting video...in some instances

Love Kanye...Id lock him in my basement..got his albums and all...I got through 14 minutes..and ..I will watch the rest later..I find it kind of boring...its not just a song..its more like the whole album that is about to come out in segments....Id rather have the album first, and then this accompany as a dvd.

Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Kanye explains the MJ head:

When West sat down with MTV News' Sway for a live Q&A session that followed the film's premiere Saturday (October 23) on MTV, he explained that he juxtaposed Jackson's likeness with the hooded marchers to make a comment about the potent pull of cult mentality.

"The hood, what it does represent to me ... in relation to the Michael Jackson thing is not the KKK but the concept of cult, because it's multiple people with this hood on," West explained. "It's me taking [the phoenix] to my world and saying, 'Let me show you what my world is about.' "

West said he invoked the image of the late icon, whose expansive cultural reach was unparalleled, to demonstrate the energy of the pop realm.

"The greatest, biggest pop-cultural figure of all time, arguably bigger than Jesus Christ, is Michael Jackson. You have the band in front of him, marching ... and you have the cult around it," West said.

Well most of Mike's choreography is directly inspired by old classic dance films.

Of course it's not the same as a giant head but Kanye can't dance lol I see no reason why he can't tribute his own inspirations the way HE wants to. The Org needs to learn the meaning of "tribute" as opposed to "ripping off".

Making a giant peter pan like pixie head and touting around with a marching band is not really a tribute. I understand what he's trying to do, and make a commentary. But thats just plain crazy...

Certain mega-celebrities do have a cult-like following, and the easilest way to symbolize a cult is to use one of the most recognizable symbols - the hood of the KKK.

We do live in a culture that is celebrity obsessed and worshiped and I think it's a simple but brilliant way to symbolize that.

Whether Kanye came up with that, I dunno...but it make complete sense.

If MJ had made a scene like this to comment on how a lot of his fans view him, all you MJ fans would be commenting on how brilliant it is....but as would I, and I am not a MJ fan at all.
