Oh please. Feedback was just as Pop as anything.

and that's why it become her 29th Top 20 and the rest of the non-Pop singles didn't do anything....

No. You are generalizing because Janet is black and Gaga and Britney are white. You aren't going to tell me that Doesn't Really Matter, All For You, Escapade and Black Cat are urban. It's simply not so. Hell, there are plenty of Janet songs that never saw the light of day as singles that are pop and pop ONLY. "Get up off that grey line"

"Come Give Your Love to Me" from Janet Jackson isn't what you would call an R&B song either. It's a pop/rock, dance song (that should've done better than it did). I love that joint.

Exactly! will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Feedback, rockwitchu, make me, just a little while, call on me... are JUST as pop as her control album, rhythm nation songs... JANET Never stop making dance urban pop.... actually her new music is just like the old music.... she has done a little more hip hop... than normal... but she had hip hop influenced tracks on the janet and velvet rope album....
did you just say janet stop making pop songs.. so by what you said.. then janet's young fan base should be black
EXACTLY feed back did better on the rnb charts.. because black radio/media SUPPORTS HER STUFF THE MOST... so thanks for proving what i said right.....
and yes most of the young janet jackson fans are black....

Sean Come on Man.... im NOT generalizing... BUT janet's music is very different from gaga, and britney... and they are considered POP MUSIC.... janet's pop music always had an rnb, funk, soul influence... and URBAN POP sound....
it has NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE... even when madonna started she her first songs were Urban pop songs... Holiday is definitly an rnb influenced pop song.....
britney spears has even done urban pop songs before... BUT majority of her songs aren't...

You said that Janet's pop songs are urban. That is incorrect. When Janet does a pop song, it is strictly pop and that's it. The songs that I named have no "urban" in them at all. "Get up off that grey line"

Yes! The synths in that track are bananas! "CGYLTM" and "Don't Stand Another Chance" are probably my favorite early Janet dance tracks. "Get up off that grey line"

i can see someone is being hard headed
but its okay... i know you dont want to admit janet's dance songs are rnb, funk, hip hop inspired... but whatever.... LOLOLOL

Janet has songs that aren't "R&B and Hip-Hop" inspired.

Well if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black (no pun intended). I can see that either logic and reason aren't your strong suits, or you're a troll. Either way, this conversation is slowly becoming tiresome. Anyone in their right mind knows a POP/R&B song VS a strictly POP song (Mary J's "Family Affair" would be a good example of a POP/R&B track and "Escapade" is a good example of POP). "Rock With U" is strictly dance/pop/house. "All Nite" is Europop. "Throb" is straight-up House. "Black Cat" is rock. But, since you can't seem to grasp the concept, my explaining it to you is kind of futile at this point. "Get up off that grey line"

Oh, but hadn't you heard? Janet is BLACK, therefore her music must have a little urban in it! (<==enter sarcasm here...) [Edited 12/3/10 14:25pm] "Get up off that grey line"

EXCUSE ME... i been at this org since 2004..... and well known by members on here...
TROLL... I DON'T THINK SO... opinionated.... YES.....
i can see you don't have logic ..... if your a janet jackson fan.. and you know her work... she has spand all generes... BUT her songs are very funk, rnb influence.. all nite is so HIP HOP....
The song contains a sample of Herbie Hancock's 1975 song "Hang up Your Hang Ups"
you make things too easy..... JANET loves disco, funk, rnb, and most of her songs reflect that.... which is why im a fan.. cause i like that type of music... IF she did the euro pop music like lady gaga and madonna i would NOT be a fan.......

NO one said janet doesn't have any songs that aren't rnb or hip hop.... i was saying that most of her stuff is...
janet is a jackson.... so she was influenced by disco, soul, funk, rnb... because of her brothers...
you all just like to make up things.. NO one her music is that way because she is black....
her music reflects what her tastes are... and thats why it sounds GREAT...
all i can say is janet has and i have a similar ear for music.... cause i pretty much enjoy most of her songs...

Well I agree that her musical tastes vary greatly, and it's reflected in her own music, but I do not agree that "All Nite" is Hip Hop. No way. "So Excited", yes, but not "All Nite". True, it has a Herbie Hancock sample, but it was produced by the Swedish production team of BAG & Arnthor, and they definately gave it their signature Europop sound. "Get up off that grey line"

Miss J is far from "urban".
Don't let the color fool you, just because she's black doesn't mean she's strictly R&B.

Exactly! | |

Well damn.....I always classified Janet as R&B "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I never did.
It was always pop first, R&B second lol

New article: Janet Jackson makes something out of 'Nothing'
Janet Jackson's hit single "Nothing" — the theme song from Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married Too?" — is generating almost as much Oscar buzz as it feels riddled with grief. Jackson learned of her brother Michael's death while filming the movie in Atlanta, before she had recorded the song. "Get up off that grey line"

"No rush, no deadlines, just create, see what I'm feeling, see where the music goes," she says. "I want to see where I am in my life at that moment." This is good to hear from her. I'm glad she won't have the pressure or demands from a label interfering with the creative process. I've always felt that Janet had/has generally good instincts when it comes to her music. BUT due to her insecurities she's always seemed to have given in to the counsel of those around her.

This is true. It was her decision to release "That's the Way Love Goes" as the first single off the janet. album, and we know how that worked out. "Get up off that grey line"
