Craig Mack's "Get Down" remix featuring (and produced by) Q-Tip was incredible, too...

Since we're talking about Tara Kemp, Robyn was in a similar vein -- she had two hits, "Do You Know (What It Takes)" and "Show Me Love". There was a funky remix of the former track that was produced by E-Smoove; it used the bass line to Hall & Oates' "I Can't Go For That".

Here's a little trivia...Tara Kemp, who had that big 1991 hit "Hold You Tight",was actually in a band with Rosie Gaines back in the 80s.If Rosie had brought Tara to meet Prince, she probably would have become a new Prince protege too!

She would've made an ideal protegee!

Her songs sounded like Prince productions! She would've had to compete with Elisa and Ingrid at the time!

Yeah, and plus she was good looking, which automatically means that Prince would have worked with her wink

I thought this thread was supposed to be "ONE' hit wonders? I see some people naming two and three songs from and artist that got mad play. Example: Michelle and Blackstreet. They both had more than one hit. Michelle had 3" No more Lies, Nicety and Something in My Heart. And no way does Kashif belong on this list. That cat had a mad run from the mid to late 80's.

It came as a reminders, which is nothing wrong if it shifted the title of the thread...it got our minds and heart working, and our fingers typing, so nothing wrong with that.

I mentioned Blackstreet because I forget those other big hits, which I have on cassette. I recently downloaded "No Diggity" so it was the first that came to mind....

"Nicety and Something in My heart" didn't even get that much radio play over my way, and weren't as 'big' as "No more lies", that's why I couldn't even recall it, and believe me when I say that all I mostly listened to was the radio...music

I looked it up and No more lies peaked at #4 on the R&B singles chart while Something in My Heart peaked at #7. Both have to be called hits. However, you are right about Nicety, it didn't make the top ten at anytime during 89-90. Nothing wrong with calling up names from the past, I just wanted to make sure we didn't call someone a one hit wonder who had a little more run in them than that. It's all good. Made for an interesting thread.

Actually, I named some after 90' also. But from what it looks, it seems like, there were more artists we wished could come back, rather than 'one hit wonders', from this thread, but if people could think of some more...I just know these were songs that I really dug...heart wink

I was just going to say that one! Just a sweet song. They should have had another hit. Was that album any good? I see it in stores every so often and really want to get it just for that song (which I recently downloaded).

I'm not sure because I didn't buy it at the time, but I'm pretty sure it is! wink
