Babyface / LA Reid - what drum machine?

Hi there guys..

Does anyone know what kinda drum machine Babyface and LA were using

back from 1987-1989? They had that unique soul/funk/new jack swing sound

back then, I just loved that reverse clap on their songs. Wanted to make some

tracks with a similar sound so I need a little information ;p

Here some tracks that pop into my mind..

Shalamar - Circumstantial Evidence

Bobby Brown - Don't Be Cruel/On Our Own/Every Little Step/Roni etc

Pebbles - Girlfriend

Karyn White - Secret Rendezvous

Sheena Easton - The Lover In Me

After 7 - Heat Of The Moment

The Boys - Dial My Heart

The Whispers - Rock Steady

Mac Band - Roses Are Red

May you rest in peace, my beautiful queen, Teena Marie rose

for what it's worth :

"...Early LA & Babyface drums were quite characteristic too but neither the Mac Band, Pebbles or Bobby Brown albums give information about this. There's a few machines that did some snares in that area. The roland d-10 had a snare similar drum as well has some of the Kawai drum machines out at the time. I'm pretty sure you could tune and change the linn drum presets into something like this too..."
