Old School R&B Song Of The Day(1/29/03)..... Toto featuring Cheryl Lynn-Georgy Porgy

Several members within the Toto group like Steve Porcaro and Steve Lukather had successful careers in the 80's as producers, writers and studio musicians. This one features vocals from Cheryl Lynn and was a respectable hit on the R&B charts in early 1979. Rapper MC Lyte sampled this song on her 1991 hit " Poor Georgie". Once again 1979 provided us with some great memorable music {despite rock and roll rebels complaining about disco overkill}. This is from Toto's 1978 album titled Toto

Enjoy

Yes they did cover it. That is the song. That was one of the main reasons I bought Toto's and Cheryl Lynn's Greatest Hits.
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

Lemme add, its also the main reason why I became a loyal fan 4 everyone of them(Eric+Faith+Toto+Cheryl).

I love Eric/Faith version,,it captured the ol' school essence from the Cheryl/Toto version. But I love C&T version simply becoz it funkier than E&F version.

very smooth song.arguably the Smoothest Jam that Boz Scaggs didn't Record after "Silk Degrees" IMHO.I like the Video that Eric&Faith did for there Re-Make.but Toto&Cheryl Captured the Essence of it for me.

And she recorded those vocals when she was only 21 years old. She had some powerful pipes for just a pup.

It's not your situation
I just need contemplation over you
I'm not so systematic
It's just that I'm an addict for your love
Not the only one that holds you
I never ever should have told you
You're my only girl
I'm not the only one that holds you
I never ever should have told you
You're my only world...
