Metallic Spheres.

The Orb featuring David Gilmour. Bought it today. Heaven on plastic. The 3D60 version is very good too smile

Any other lovers of decent music into this?

I'd have bet money this post would drop like a lead balloon. Wouldn't have happened on a British site wink

Mate, you only gave it an hour. The pubs don't shut til 11. I came home early as I drank too much brandy. Not too much though to agree with you that this is a fine record that will fly over the head of many. Quite an unexpected album, actually. Like Jimmy Page and the Chemical Brothers.

Good choice of word. One of the reviews stated (Times I think) that it's the most innovative Gilmour has been since the early days of Floyd. Not so much him as the Orb but I see what they're saying.

Wow, this sounds like a great project. Right up my proggish/electro alley. smile

I use to listen to a lot of The Orb back in the day and I've always loved David Gilmour/Pink Floyd so it's gotta be good. And I am big fan of the 'long" conceptual type stuff. I'm gonna check this out for sure. Nice to see Gilmour doing something experimental again.cool

Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Get the limited edition as the second cd is recorded in 3D60 which sounds awesome with headphones.

What is 3D60? Some kind of audio 3D mix?

Is the 2-disc version available in the US? Because I def want that version!

Biggest Orb geek on EARTH right here! nod Really excited for this, but I haven't picked it up yet (don't want to download it). Really glad to hear some good things about it. Pretty awesome times for Dr LX, actually. UFB is quite good, he's working with Thomas Fehlmann again AND an album with David Gillmore (and Youth, which always makes the Orb more Orblike, for me). Never would have thought in 1991 that I'd be talking about this stuff almost 20 years later. thumbs up!

Also didn't expect to see a thread about this here. cool The MNP forum tends to stay pretty focused on certain types of music (r&b, soul, rock - a lot of it older lol ). So, thanks, iloveannie.

No probs. I'm an ex-clubber so I still listen to a lot of electronica and the like. Highly recommend seeing Hexstatic if you ever get the chance. Never seen anything like it. Video dj's and extremely fun smile

The new Zero 7 album is corker too.

Ex-clubber myself. Late 91 (when you're Wicked boys - Jeno, Markie, Garth and Thomas came over to SF) to late 95 real heavy. Lighter from 96 to 2001. Less and less to almost never nowdays as they've succeeded in ruining the underground scene in the Bay Area. Was driving back over the Bay Bridge one morning while still not being any kind of "right" when a friend said, "hey check this out" and popped in a U.F.Orb cassette. Loved it immediately, been a HUGE fan ever since.

Zero 7 I dig quite a bit. Not as familiar with Hexstatic, so I'll check it out. Thanks. cool

Walking through Hyde Park at 7am and one of the lads says he just saw a pelican. How we laughed. And then we saw it too. Surreal after an all-nighter.
