You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Usher is not a true musician and also does not need to be showcased by Prince considering he's had a very successful career. El DeBarge has been in the business since he was 17 and at 49, I would not consider him "the future".

Trey Songz is a horrible, horrible singer. Not even Prince himself can help him.

It would be cool if he could go and get some true artists and musicians who don't already have some shine on them. Not gonna happen but it would be nice.

I gotta agree with Vendetta1. Actually Prince is above doing things like this and in no shape or fashion should a musicians of his caliber model any of his business ventures like American Idol. I'm still vomiting from his appearance on American Idol back in 2006. However, if Welcome 2 America: Soul Singers is what he is planning, please book singers that can ACTUALLY sing. Prince aint got time to teach that guy how to vocalize.

I don't see a problem with this. It's not much different than Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest and Motley Crue's Cruefest, just a R&B version on a smaller scale without the sideshow attractions. B.B. King has run a blues festival for several years also.
