HOW MANY MUSICAL ARTISTS HAVE BEEN CLEANED OUT BY THE IRS and/or ...filed for bankruptcy?
Why can't these fools simply pay their bills when they have so much money to work with?
So we've got Toni Braxton filing bankruptcy twice - current Sammy Davis Jr got cleaned out by the IRS - late 80s MC Hammer filed bankruptcy and owed some major taxes - late 80s Willie Nelson got taken to the cleaners by the IRS - not sure when but I heard about this George Clinton filed for bankruptcy I think twice - 90s Grace Jones filed for bankruptcy - 90s
Didn't James Brown get taken to the cleaners by the IRS?

I think they hit James Brown too.
Jermaine Dupri is another one.
Some of the most successful artists are simply of a different ilk. Many others are so successful that they just assume i) taxes will be paid, or ii) they're too important or beloved for the IRS to come after them. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I don't know the years, but I remember these performers had tax problems:
Marvin Gaye Aretha Franklin Billy Joel Marlon Jackson Tina Turner You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

the bolded ones are surprising to me. I assumed they made sound investments and had multiple streams of income. wasn't billy joel worth half a billion at one time?

I think Marlon's was in the 80's, I remember it was said he had to sell off some of his awards and memorabilia. I don't know if it's true or not, but I heard that Janet gave him some kind of royalty credit on her Rhythm Nation album to help him out. Billy Joel's problems had something to do with his old manager ripping him off. Billy fired and sued the manager. Aretha's problems with the IRS go back to the mid-1970s. Billy's had to do with managers screwing him out of his money. Marlon's predicament was similar to his brothers'.

George Harrison said the British government was taking most of The Beatles' earnings and that's why he wrote Taxman. Several British performers moved elsewhere and became tax exiles like Mick Jagger & Eric Clapton. To my knowledge Clapton resolved his tax issues but did Jagger?

Tax problems for some of these artists can come from bad accountants, poor bookkeeping or in Franklin's case, ignoring payment requests. Aretha is 60 million rich in the pocket - it is inexcusable to have tax lien problems, but hey she doesn't have managment and basically trusts no one. really? what Jackson has ever made sound investments and multiple streams of income? Michael and Janet for that last part, but none of them for the first part, and all the rest of 'em were living off of Michael.

Actually, Marlon is doing well today. He's into real estate and owns a grocery store chain. He used to own a Christian television network, but sold it. Now he's planning on building a resort and slavery museum in Nigeria. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Jermaine always threw his money out in the club and losing it. So that didn't help matters for him.

ALL of them.
Willie Nelson got caught up in a pyramide tax shelter scheme that his accountant Price Waterhouse suggested he do and assured him it was legal. Mr. Nelson ended up owing the IRS millions but he sued P & W and got his money back he had to pay the IRS.
