FBI seizes John Lennon's fingerprints

FBI seizes John Lennon's fingerprints in NYC

AP

NEW YORK – The FBI has seized a set of John Lennon's fingerprints from a Manhattan memorabilia shop.

U.S. agents removed the item on Wednesday from the store, called Gotta Have It!

The New York Times says the signed fingerprint card was made at a police station on May 8, 1976. It bears the name John Winston Ono Lennon. At the time, Lennon was applying for citizenship.

Spokesman James Margolin said the FBI is investigating how the item "came to be up for auction."

A store owner, Peter Siegel, said Homeland Security also had inquired about the card.

Siegel said an unidentified concert promoter bought it at a Beatles convention about two decades ago.

Saturday would have been Lennon's 70th birthday.

Umm I read this on Billboard the other day but I don't see the point in the FBI seizing it... Somebody clue me in.

At issue is the fact that someone in the office who had access to the citizenship application fingerprint card card spirited it out of the building and sold it.

It's confidential government property under Title 13 of the US code.

Someone has committed a federal offense and there are far more stringent statute of limitation rules when its a federal crime.

Somebody is having trouble sleeping tonight if they are still alive and living in the US.

How awesome would it be if someone baught them, someone managed to transfer them to some kind of paper that transfers onto other things & then broke into Paul Mccartney's house or something as a prank and messed the place up... & then upon the police finding the suspects fingerprints & putting them through the system... OMG john lennon is back from the dead!

This just reminded me of the Elvis embalming stuff that was supposedly on display. confused I remember some of Marvin's items were giving to others by his ex for some odd reason. Like what the hell I wanna do with someone's driver's license? confused

Don't know if the name Fritz Perls means anything to y'all but I know someone who has Perls' gallstones in a jar on his dresser.neutral

Perls was the father of Gestalt Therapy and is perhaps most widely known for his "Gestalt Prayer."

I do my thing and you do your thing.

I am not in this world to live up to your expectations,
And you are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are you, and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful.
If not, it can't be helped.

(Fritz Perls, 1969)

And I know another semi-famous shrink from NY who had loaned an overcoat to Perls shortly before he died. After he heard about Perls passing he discovered a white hair on the collar, obviously from Perls.

He cut it up into an omlette and he and his wife dined upon it ceremoniously. Now that's pretty freakin' weird.

There was that situation where Bobby Womack got all of Sam Cooke's suits (and his widow too!) right after Sam died. I remember a few years ago, someone bought Paul McCartney's birth certificate for $24,000. There was also a guy that would go into celebrities yards, dig up some of their dirt and sell it.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

well with John so much was put up for auction, artwork etc..by Yoko that im sure alot was sold that shouldnt have been sold, i mean Julian Lennon would use his inheritance money from his Dad to actually buy things that his Dad owned but he wasnt offered, that was the biggest crime. At the end of the day Julian is Blood, and Yoko isnt, no getting around that.
