Nicki Minaj Sets New Billboard Record Nicki Minaj has yet to release her debut album, ‘Pink Friday’, but she already has reason to celebrate. The ‘Check It Out’ performer is now the female rapper with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single year. Minaj has 8 songs appearing on the tally, 7 of which are among Nielsen Soundscan’s 200 best-selling singles of 2010 to date for a grand total of 4,298,00o units sold. The songs that have allowed the rapper to accomplish this feat include her solo song ‘Your Love’ and her features on Ludacris’ ‘My Chick Bad’, Lil Wayne’s ‘Knockout’, Trey Songz’s ‘Bottoms Up’, Usher’s ‘Lil Freak’, Sean Kingston’s ‘Letting Go (Dutty Love)’, Mariah Carey’s Up Out My Face’ and Jay Sean’s ‘It Ain’t The End’. Expect Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday’ in stores on November 23rd.

Interesting I knew she would be good for female rappers when I said she was good in one of these threads hating on Weezy and folks were like HELL NAW but she is doing her thing even with all these crazy ass outfits What the hell is on her head?

Least that's how it looks like from that picture.
And I wouldn't call what she does original. Ripping off both Grace and Lil Kim is not a good look.
Plus, that "record" is not really a record since she only guested on those tracks and was a featured artist on one of them so that doesn't count.
Billboard has been quite ridiculous with these "records" lately. First the "Glee" thing, now this. lol

love the photo, very Grace Jones-like.
I can't say I'm familiar with her stuff aside from the Thick/Mariah tracks, but I already like her for some reason. she seems really fun. "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

Well the way she "raps" is quite funny, she goes from squeak to deep for some odd reason, and she makes weird ass faces. That's basically her trademarks.

I'll be youtubing her as soon as I get back home "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

Who knows? You may dig her. lol

It seems like it, I'm quite an easy sell like that sometimes "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

If you whittle something down to barely nothing then it becomes a record to be broken. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I wouldn;t mind diggin her too. PRINCE: Always and Forever

I know...when they are not even her own damn songs...I mean ..shes just a featured guest appearing on about one minute of the song....that entitles to a record? Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Reminds me of Ashanti's "record" from 2002. Of the three top ten hits she had "at the same time", only one song was really her's.

thats the way it goes now, there used to be what...5-7 charts in billboard, now there are 7 per page, theres a chart for everything freaking thing and with that comes record likes these, when Nicki has the singles 1-5 on the chart that she wrote and sung, has a number one album, a number one movie and is selling out tours and doing tv shows all at once, then we will talk about her relevance. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I love her verse on Kanye's Monster - the "squeak and deep" (perfect phrase) really fit well on that song.
But I imagine that style would wear out its welcome pretty quickly. And I don't like that Your Love song or the terrible one she did at the VMAs with Will I Am.

I agree...somebody who is a featured guest will NEVER mean ish to me until you can do it without riding someones coat tails to have a career...I've seen so many artists start off that way and fall off with their solo albums...so we just have to sit and see what she does...because that per4mance with WillIAm was TERRIBLE. Oh please. The record is for a female rapper because THAT'S WHAT SHE IS. And the whole 34578394 charts thing really doesn't matter because this is the Hot 100, i.e. the most important singles chart. She's still probably the most relevant black girl right now besides Beyoncé. iSnatch, iRead, iDrag. For Beysus and in general. Simple.

!!! That's laughable. The most hyped? yes, the most relevant? to whom? [Edited 10/13/10 12:36pm]

rihanna is pretty revelant next to beyonce in mainstream music as a block popartist internationally

If her booty could sing she'd be Aretha Franklin, but since that's not likely to happen...
