No Janet solo track "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world." |

Spike Lee
Kasi Lemmons
Whoever keeps hiring Queen Latifah
Whoever keeps hiring the Avatar chick (who granted is actually latina but still, she looks black)
There was an awesome article on a blog where they broke down the fallacy that Perry is the only director hiring black talent. I'll try to dig it up tomorrow and post it for y'all.
Janet is in a comfort zone right now with Perry but she needs to realize if she is going to be taken serious as an actress, she needs to branch out beyond the shadow of Perry. Space for sale... |

Has Spike Lee made a movie in the last 5 or so years? All I see him talking about is Haita and Katrina victims and making documentaries on that type of stuff. Is he still making movies? |

I don't keep up with Spike (unitl he releases some comment about something).
I could see Lee casting Janet for a movie. It all depends on the character.

Remember Janet was originally going to be in that movie Lee was directing. I forget the name of it, I think it was "Tennessee"... |

That's right. I wonder if Janet would de-glam herself like Carrey did for Precious. Hmmm.... Space for sale... |

She did for "Poetic Justice". She was not really glammed up in that movie. |

I think she was just building her acting chops/confidence back up by working consistently with Tyler. |

That could just be it. But I hope it's not more than three films. Clearly she's gained some confidence by now, right? |

Janet's been a lazy artist for over a decade now. In music and her acting career. She doesn't have the courage to think outside the box anymore. Space for sale... |

Insider update:
[I]t’s the real deal — maybe too conceptually out there for safe, old, mainstream white Academy tastes, but the performances range from good (Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine) to great (Phylicia Rashad, Thandie Newton) to pretty much masterful (Kimberly Elise, Macy Gray).

Yeah, I think that's that joint being directed by Bill Duke. She along with others are doing cameos as themselves in that one.
I hear ya Timmy, let's hope she's ready for more challenging roles from more challenging directors. In that new Jet article she mentions that alot of scripts are coming her way. I hope there's some good stuff in there for her. [Edited 10/22/10 7:46am] |

I hope so too. I'm also glad she's living her dream of being a film actress. [Edited 10/23/10 11:41am] |
