That song is absolutely . . . horribly! lol

Why does Braxton sound a lil' like mush mouth Anita Baker?

Beats me. lol Guess she was trying hard to BE Anita Baker or Phyllis Hyman. I see traces of both in her vocal style. She doesn't do a good imitation of either lol

No, no, no . . . less not go there. lol

Sista can take only so much trauma in one day. If she hadn't had to file for bankruptcy again, I would have been spared knowing anything about that song, Braxton needs to get her shit together. mad

Ironically, the songs, "Love should have brought you home" & "Give you my heart", were originally written with Ms. Baker in mind.

Maybe her time (musically) is over, but I still don't know what this woman can't get an r&b hit again. Her last album was pretty bad. It's like she was trying to make music for teens and her audience is 40+.

She definitely needs a reality check. Personally and professionally.

Right on! Why should she be living like a rich person when she's clearly not. Cut her some slack my ass. neutral

Ya know?

If we're gonna judge it by this logic, then 1/4 of this world's population would be bankrupt due to disability. Thats a cop out argument. She should cut her own child some slack and start investing for his/her future, how old is she anyway? 42?

Rock steady baby,,,,lets call this dumb shit exactly what it is; a reckless dumb shit.

lol

But hey let her tell it like she did in the Jet interview earlier this year in so many words it's

Keri's fault. Obviously you don't see Keri out in public much except his few gigs with MC

but i seriously doubt if he lives it up like PDiddy.

Really?

It is well known and documented that Face and LA wanted to work with Anita on the Boomerang soudntrack. Anita heard the songs and turned them down. She told them the girl singing the demo sounded excellent and they should keep her on there.

Eh, the charting was OK and it was played on R&B stations often but it was a near-smash compared to "Man Enough". shrug

That is definitely one of her best ballads.

Yes. It was well known you and others, not me. lol That was very nice of Ms. Baker to give Ms. Braxton the hook-up. You never say never about an artist maybe Toni can find a niche in adult contemporary music.

Also she needs to come to terms that she'll never get back to the top of the music world like she was in '93 and '96 (she started faltering by the time The Heat came out musically anyway) and just be satisfied with any legacy she has with the good music she DID create.

I agree.

I think she made TOO many mistakes after The Heat. The Heat was her last "big" album. She messed up by releasing "More Than A Woman" after that. That album is one of the worst albums on my shelf. It wasn't a "Toni Braxton" album, but a hip-hop album with some Toni Braxton vocals.

After that, she released Libra. Libra (to me) was a really good album and would have made a great followup to The Heat. The problem was that she was suing LaFace and trying to work with Barry Hankerson. She let him just KILL the little career she had left. Libra could have been big, but when no one will have you on their show to promote your album, you have a problem. Come on, she did Macy's Thanksgiving Parade (or one of those parades) singing on a float!

She really needs to examine what kind of career that she wants. I hope she has a good lawyer that can negotiate with her bill collectors and the insurance company to help get out of this mess.

It's sad when you think about her career (and life) in the long run. Obviously she played a role in the way it played out just like everyone else.

R&B star Toni Braxton has filed for bankruptcy again.

The singer has filed papers in California, claiming she owes between $10 million and $50 million in unpaid debts.

Braxton alleges she's unable to cover the costs because she is only worth between $1 million and $10 million.

In the filing, the star lists a number of her creditors, including the City of Los Angeles Parking Violations Bureau and the Department of Motor Vehicles in California and Nevada.

Braxton previously filed for bankruptcy in 1998 and she was hit with a $400,000 federal tax lien in March.

she should easily have had a continued career in adult contempary or even did a foray in gospel a la Michelle Williams, there is no reason for her to not have some sort of career disbelief
