I'm not a big Rod Stewart Fan but for some reason this song keeps popping in my head ....
Young Turks.

I have to admit I like his voice in the song, the message, and it reminds me of the 80's & youth (I guess)
Some people have a different interpretation of this song. For me, it seems to mean don't rush falling in love. Time is on your side.

"Young Turks" is easily my favorite Rod Stewart song. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Love that song. Next year it turns 30 (!) and still, we never ever change the station when it's on.

I love that era of Rod Stewart. From "Hot Legs" on up through "Infatuation", those years he was making some great stuff. Andy is a four letter word.

Don't forget his early work with the Faces etc and A Night on the Town is an awesome cd. It's his most recent stuff that's a bore.

I like it too, but why is it called Young Turks?

I hate what Rod Stewart is doing nowadays. The American songbook has been worn out by singers like Rod.

That's a pussy move, I don't care if it brings him money. He's a rocker. If people wanna get at Rod for "selling out", now's the time.

That's still something I have a problem with to this very day. Maybe the title "Young Hearts" (Candi Staton anyone?) was taken and the label Rod was under feared a lawsuit so hence why it's called "Young Turks". I don't know, the final titles of some hit songs are weird.

Oh yeah. I also like his earlier stuff like "You Wear It Well", "Tonight's The Night", "Maggie May", etc. "Infatuation" and "Some Guys Have All The Luck" are the last things he made before I stopped liking his music. I hated "Downtown Train", "People Get Ready", "This Old Heart Of Mine", and the stuff during that era of the late 1980s up to the present. He went from a rocker to an adult contemporary artist. Andy is a four letter word.

Also Beck-ola, the Jeff Beck Group album on which he provides outstanding vocals.
I do like Rod, and the Hot legs - Infatuation era is part of the soundtrack to my life (as I'm sure it is for many). I have specific memories attached to loads of Rods songs (Baby Jane and When Doves Cry bring me to the same memory, I guess it follows that both were in the charts at the same time).
I even like all the twee, wave your arms in the air, anthemic stuff like The Rythym of my Heart, Sailing, and Every Beat Of My Heart, which really is down to his voice, I'm fairly certain none of those songs would have the same appeal for me if sung by someone else.
Mandolin Wind is one of my all time favourite songs.
I do think it's a pity he's gone down the American songbook route (btw Timmy84 - he's done 5 American songbook albums so far, the time to accuse him of selling out is long gone ), but his choice I guess, and at least he lasted a good while before doing so. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
