What makes you think I'm not a fan as well?
Why do people bring up *sales* in an argument about quality? Especially when talking about albums previous to around 2001 - when more people were buying albums off of faith and name alone, and the ability to preview albums beforehand was not as easy as it is today. I'll NEVER understand that...
FanMail was going to hit #1 even if it was complete and total trash because, as you said, they were out of sight for 5 years and were heavily anticipated. They were obviously a staple of the 90s, and came out strong with "No Scrubs."
And "prove me wrong?" On my opinion? If you don't agree, that's cool...but c'mon now...
I'm not afraid to say I never really cared for the album *in its entirety* back in '99 and, hearing it today, I still don't think it gels like CrazySexyCool. FanMail was ahead-of-its-time with the futuristic sound but between the lifeless midtempos like "Lovesick," "My Life," and "Shout," and sweet ballads like "I Miss You So Much" contrasting with over-the-top ghettoness like "I'm Good At Being Bad" its not as great a listen as the legendary, flawless album that came before it. There's no way in I could agree with that.
