I've been infatuated with this instrument this past year for some reason.

So far I'm only familiar with Sly Stone's "Riot", "Fresh", Shuggie Otis' "Inspiration Information" and afew stuff from D.J. Rogers.

Mr.Neal(theAudience) brought my attention to these two as well...

I might got my info mixed up btw, Neal said that Sly used the Roland's first generation after "Riot". I can't really make the distinction.

Stevie used either of them in "You Haven't Done Nothing".

Ionno, somma these joints might be with the Maestro Rhythm King by Gibson too.

Uncle Neal said that Shuggie used the maestro almost exclusively in "Inspiration Information". See? I still got alot to catch up on.

Ok, I'm confused. It says in your second clip that the Maestro was used in "Riot". But here's a picture of the back booklet of "Listen to the voices".

If you just listen to these demos, it's the unmistakeable sound of the high hat and cymbal that I associate with the tunes I thought you liked.

Skip to 0:45 he demos the individual drum buttons on the front panel. The high hat is the 3rd button and cymbal is 4th.

Just read this on the web:

Miles Marshall Lewis in his book “There’s a Riot Goin’ On” says its the MRK-1 on that record and on the Sisters record.

MRK-2 came out October 1970 according to the linked article, while Riot was recorded Spring-Fall 1971. It’s a possibility.

There was yet another comment that Sly used the Maestro IV but the machine would have been released after those recordings.

I've said this earlier, but I wish the filmmaker who did Moog would dabble into the drum machine project, its still a controversial subject,,,,and you still have two people from different ends who feel strongly about the subject.

But there's def some over dubbing in the drums track.

There're live drums overdubbed in the last two songs.
