Brandy-"I Wanna Be Down" Then and Now I loved this song when it came out and I still love it. Excellent debut. It's been in my head all day so I went to youtube and I noticed that Brandy's voice has definitely changed since then. It's still a beautiful voice, though!

Of course it's changed, she was what, 14 when that song came out? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I wasn't expressing shock or bewilderment that her voice has changed. Just making a post about the observation and, more importantly, performances of one of my favorite debut songs.

In my opinion, this was Brandy at her best. Nothing could touch her debut, it was flawless. I miss that Brandy... "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

U think so?
I didn't really like her debut. Though it was good, it didn't top "Never Say Never" to me. I think NSN and Aphrodisiac are her best works (debut being 3rd). **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I thought her debut was the best thing that she has ever done. It had an old-school classic feel to it. I still play it more than I do, her other cd's. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I love the debut, but Never Say Never and Afrodisiac are better. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I agree the debut was strongest along with Sittin Up In My Room. Don't laugh at my funk

No comment on the topic but I was watching Dancing with the Stars last night and there is something majorly creepy about her face now. I couldn't quit figure out if its cause she's too skinny or if she's had plastic surgery. She sadly has that Hollywood odd look. Space for sale...

Oh Lord, horrible song, horrible year, and just horrible era of music altogether (at least music on the radio in those days...the clubs were jammin' though).
The only thing I liked Brandy in was that horror movie that had the killer with the hook. I kept rooting for the killer and hoping he would catch her. Andy is a four letter word.

Vain Andy, you make my life!
I haven't looked at Brandy the same way since she did that reality show when she was pregnant "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

No love for Full Moon? I think that's her best album, hands down. Her other albums are good, but Full Moon is great.

It's not for everyone, I guess, but I really love 90's R&B. Songs like "I Wanna Be Down" remind me of more innocent times.

I never saw that show, but you're not the first person I've heard say this. What happened? I know she lied about being married. I think that was the beginning of the end of her popularity. It's unfortunate because Full Moon was really great.

I've never heard a bad Brandy album, but Full Moon is probably my least favorite (along with Human). Those albums have some great songs, but they aren't as consistently good to my ears. Fair enough. To be honest, I don't have her debut album or Never Say Never...I was judging based on the singles.

Oooh....u should run to get NSN. It tells a story from beginnign to end. Damn-near track is excellent. Some of my favorites:

No, she's got that no fat in the face look like Madonna cause she's starving herself of much needed fatty foods. Space for sale...

My favorite Brandy song

Yeah, most of those were singles. Happy and Learn the Hard Way are new to me. NSN is cool...I'm checking it out on youtube. It doesn't go as hard as Full Moon, but it's nicely polished.

It's definitely a different kind of album compared to Full Moon. NSN was aimed at a "pop" audience and crafted for singles. My favorite song is probably "The Hard Way".
This album was done after she and Wanye from Boyz II Men. Therefore she had a story to want to tell. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Almost Doesn't Count is an absolute gem and it is such a bittersweet song "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

"I Wanna Be Down" was the song which turned me into a Brandy fan and I remain one ever since. I wouldn't say her debut is her best album because there are too many fillers towards the end and "Never Say Never", "Aphrodisiac" and "Human" are all better but it was a solid debut. Unlike most of the other R&B ladies who came out around the same time, her music remains interesting and that's something trully exceptional about her

the Radio Mix version of it is amazing, definitely my favorite from her. "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"
