Is this guy even in contention for a Sylvester biopic? Is there one even being made? Me thinks this is just wishful thinking on his part. Space for sale...

I've only been able to find one reference to the biopic on Sylvester's Wikipedia page, and... well... you know how dependable those can be.
To the extent it's true, though, it looks like the lead role has been decided. I just think Nelson gives me more "Sylvester." Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Who is Tonex? (sounds like a product for T-Zone oiliness).
I really liked that!
So... how many albums and where should I start? [Edited 10/6/10 19:54pm]

He was a gospel musician prior to this. I don't know if you wanna get into that. However there was one album where it was "less Christian" I guess. "Out the Box" or whatever the name was.

Oh, ok, this is not all that enthusiastic.

I give Tonex his props for challenging the church but I never been a fan of his voice/singing...it always reminded me of a drag queen

It's pronounced (toe-NAY).
Which should've been hint enough, back in the day, come to think of it...

Unlike some people in the Sunday-keeping "Christian" world (READ: Eddie Long), at Tonex is telling the truth right out in the open.

Someone asked about a song in which Tonex had downed Lesbianism prior to my posting. That song was "O2 (Oxygen), the title cut of his 2nd album, O2. My first discovery of Tonex was on Bobby Jones Gospel on B.E.T. one Sunday morning. He did a song from his "Out the Box" CD called, "To Know You, Lord" and he was da BOMB! That VOICE!!!! From that day forward, I went out on a quest to find his stuff. I bought, "Pronounced Toe-Nay" and then "O2." The second time I was blown away by him was on his video for "Bout a Thing" and MAN, can this brotha DANCE! Very Janet Jackson-esque moves with equal parts of grace and ability. Amazing! As for his "downing" the Gay lifestyle, sometimes when one is in the closet, one can resort to this kind of behavior. I think it's natural (and sad, of course), but I also believe that he probably looks back with some degree of regret by having done so. Sexuality aside, the man is a brilliant talent creatively, musically and vocally. I think it's great that he's freed himself from that awful cage that many homosexuals find themselves trapped in. His tribute to Sylvester is a milestone and salutes one of music's premiere Gay celebrities who, up until now, has been all but forgotten sadly and seemingly. If anyone can do Sylvester right, then it's Brotha Tonex. I wish him the best of luck. Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

So is he still doing Gospel music?
I always knew he was gay, and thought it was ridiculous how people in the church and the community tried to deny it.
I go to the same hair salon as his ex-wife, well when she is in Chicago because her family is here. I remember when I met her they were still married, and the other ladies at the salon thought it was such a big deal that she was married to him. However, all I remember thinking was, but her husband is gay. Folks need to stop living in the shadows and other folks need to stop forcing them in there.
Anyway, good for him if he is finally being true to himself. [Edited 11/7/10 11:48am] perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

No he's singing secular music now. He still considers himself Christian but just not connected to gospel anymore. He said he was tired of the hypocrisy of the church. And he retired from the name Tonex, he now goes by B Slade as the video points out lol
