It's too bad he did not bring any talent to go with that energy.

I apologize for sounding negative but I have never seen a hip-hop performance and thought, "Wow, what a great performance." Well maybe when I saw The Beastie Boys and Run DMC when I was 16 years old, but I didn't know any better. It was the first concert I went to.

Somebody is spending a lot of money on his productions, I can recognize that. And he seems to rehearse, know his marks, and has his moves down as if practiced over and over in a mirror. But something doesn't quite flow when I take in his overall performance. Either he's nervous, or maybe he just struggles with choreography, but something seems off when I watch him perform.

And I know he's trying to showcase his producer skills on the fly by building that little track as he goes along, the problem for me with that move is that it just doesn't take a whole lot of skill to be able to do that, lol. Then final gripe; that last vocal part that comes at the end of the song that he sings through auto-tune never seems to be loud enough in the mix - like I wanna tell them "Turn it up!", lol.

It's nice to see the industry at least seems to be giving him a fair shot at continuing along with his career. And he seems to be trying hard to come up with new stuff, so I give it to him for that. Though he would need to work a lot harder in order to be as good to me as he seems to feel he is to himself.

I think he's kind of an awful performer - but when the songs are this good, I don't care all that much. And even when I say awful, it's kind of an interesting awful. It's like he's playing Jesus/Caesar/whatever, but he comes off like such a nerd.

the imagery was good and looked iconic. nice to see people make some effort instead

of just standing there on stage. not feeling his over shouting of his verses tho. it would

have been more impressive if he hadn't shouted and just did his rap hard, but not too

hard. i know, i don't make sense.

You do make sense.

It would'e been more effective had he exuded some confidence in his performances, he's always tense. And thats why I ONLY enjoy his videos.

Feeling the energy of this song, and I love how he sublty tells stories through his songs. Wouldda been the shit if he didn't change the second verse about SNL, that would have been funny

I loved the performance..and I agree with you..it does seems like he is a bit nervous. I remember watching it with four other people..and the whole entire room of us just got silent...NO ONE SAID A WORD as that performance went on! That's power..I gotta give it to him.

I've seen Kanye live and he's pretty good. Not as good as Jay though. But definitely not a regular rap show with your 59 boyz onstage thing.
