Kids, don't leave your DAW projects lying around on your HD, somebody may access them over a network and steal them. I mean, the chances for that may be as high as, say, 0.01%
U know nothing about the industry. Its very hard & expensive to distribute music on your own. Labels provide a build in machine. Even though he does have the notoriety to do it. It would take a lot of effort & time. He still would have to deal with hackers which will be even worse. The best thing he would pocket the majority of the profit.
Sorry dude i have worked in and around the industry for over 20 years, u didnt even have the sense to read the short ass post i did. IF YOU READ it, it says that if Ne-Yo is so concerned with this issue and thinks labels are at fault then do it without them, and as i pointed out further in the post, he wont do that because labels are bankrolling him and he wouldnt want to have to start footing the bills himself. As for the costs of doing it yourself as opposed to not doing it yourself, it depends on who you are, and WHAT GENRE you are in, and sorry to say but Ne-Yo's genre is where most of the downloading/mixtapes/bootlegging is coming from, which is why you will not see him go indie because he would make even less. Now someone like Radiohead, who have fans and a good % who do download but also want the artist to make the money, Radiohead has tapped into that monster. Ne-Yo's fan base could give a rats ass about who gets paid , and want his shit for free.

NeYo's music since his first cd has sucked! I still listen to that cd, but dude is overrated.
I've been saying that since the first time I heard him yet people think this dude's talent is of quality. Maybe SOME of his writing skills...the only decent thing I've heard that I liked from him was the Independent Woman remix with Jamie Foxx. All that other stuff is just okay. Even "Champagne Life" or whatever the song is called sounds redundant.

This couldn't be further from the truth.... a lot of the cuts from this new album have an MJ sound. This actually started with his second album on songs like Can We Chill. I mean it's ok to hate on dude but at least get your reasons right.
