My Chemical Romance: Na Na Na
After their last CD, "The Black Parade," I have been eagerly awaiting My Chemical Romance's new album. And it finally comes out at the end of November! This song, the first single, is tons of fun...can't wait!
Enjoy

I posted this one a couple weeks back and it was completely ignored, so good luck! http://prince.org/msg/8/344004
I My Chemical Romance. The Black Parade is a great album, but it was actually a bit of a letdown for me. I listened to Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge everyday for almost a year. It was my public transit commute music and I just couldn't stop listening. It totally embodies that time of my life - brings back so many memories when I listen to it. Plus, I love every song on the album. I tried Black Parade the same way and it didn't work. Only lasted a couple months and I would end up skipping songs. I give them a lot of credit for taking such a giant leap creatively, though. That same leap exists between their first and second albums as well. Also, they're comic book geeks who write comic book songs... and a comic book!

I got "The Black Parade" first, and I love every single track on it. (Mama, Teenagers, House of Wolves, and Sleep are favorites) "Three Cheers" I have listened to many times, but it never really stuck with me the same way. But there's still some killer tracks on it. As for the first album, I haven't heard that one yet...BUT I'm uber excited about this new release. Maybe this time I'll be able to afford the concert...

The first album is definitely not as good. Much more basic, much less produced, mostly about vampires. The leap in the quality of their songwriting between Bullets and Revenge is remarkable. The way they embraced having more money to produce Revenge also made a huge difference. There was no "staying true to their roots" nonsense. They went bigger and it worked.
Black Parade, again, I think it's a great album. But for me it lacks a lot of the catchiness of the songs on Revenge. That album is just so damn hooky. Hooks everywhere. Hooks in the verses, bridges AND choruses. Black Parade is going more for the epic emotions than the hum it all day hooks. It worked most of the time, but it does occasionally miss for me. And I just wish there was more good times to it. Not very likely, though, considering the subject matter. I'm really glad they've decided to have fun again with the new album.
