James Brown On Prince

This is the first time I hear Mr.Dynamite speak about Prince....

Rotate to 3:59. I didn't know he felt that way, I've always assumed that James admired Prince' live persona, given the fact that it was somewhat of a rerun to him. I do understand his reasoning though.

I think this is what Cedric the Entertainer was mocking at when he mentioned James on "Comic View". Not sure though. lol

James was probably specifically referring to the homoerotic antics Prince used to engage in.

I remember reading an article that James mention the f word I guess because a woman thought he was gay because he failed to perform sex on her. Apparently the woman went out to anyone who would listen to say he was gay because of that. It was in a 1982 article of JET.

Clearly he didn't want to answer any of her questions, and was only interested in promoting his tour. I think she did a good job keeping her cool though, because James was definitely trying to unnerve her, lol.

I wanted to post this but I decided not to and here YOU go! lol

My fav part: "Cause I look good! I smell good! I feel good! And make love good!" **snickers from the studio**

The "comparison" between Prince and Michael is like ugh. Everybody couldn't be squeaky clean like Mike was, Prince had to have a niche too. James Brown was just lucky he was famous at a time when folks weren't all up in celebs private business like they are now. His stage show might have been clean, but his personal life certainly was not.

And I'm guessing these comments were made after Prince pulled down the lamppost at that James Brown concert. lol

He talks about Michael having problems with his tour so I'm guessing this was around Victory Tour.

It's unfortunate that so many women are quick to go there, before even considering that perhaps the man just doesn't find her (specifically) attractive.

And I bet Michael KNEW Prince was fucked-up when he whispered in James' ear to ask Prince to come to the stage. I mean; Prince is responsible for his own behavior, but I think Michael set him up that night, lol.

Oh he definitely set that up. lol I wanna think that he was just trying to be friendly and share the spotlight... but he might have known how badly Prince would crash and burn up on that stage... which he did. lol I'm embarrassed for him and it's not even me. I would have PRAYED for the ground to swallow me up right then and there.

disbelief THAT's what James was led to believe, lol. But I believe Michael had probably seen Prince earlier in the night and knew that Prince would not be able to refuse James calling him to the stage. Mike was playing dirty, lol.

My fav quote from this clip regarding Prince applies to these kids today..He was responding to a question in which he implied that Prince's show was dirty and said "Maybe somebody is telling him to do it....thing is the people telling him..don't want him to do it for there kids" If that ain't the music industry today I don't know what is

I'm sure any time Prince is in the room he's hard to miss (particularly if he's being carried around like a baby by some big-ass bodyguard, lol). Same goes for Michael, I would imagine. They each, no doubt, knew the other was there.

I'm sure folks in each other's entourages were like "Prince is here!" "Michael's here!" Then just stepped back and waited to see what the other was gonna do.

LOL it was also pretty interesting how Michael disappeared from the stage as soon as Prince came on. I remember seeing that and thinking, "ok, now where did Mike go?" He probably didn't want the crowd to hear him sequealing in high-pitched laughter.

lol Michael didn't make Prince have Chick carry him to the front, try to play a guitar that was way too big for him, take off his jacket and gyrate all over the stage, then pull down a lamp post prop. Prince did that all on his own.

I hear that. At that time I'm sure folks were like eek at some (most!) of his on stage antics. He said he was just trying to be noticed. Sure got James Brown's attention. lol
