the "heatwave" episode of unsung is good, but also bittersweet. in fact, most of these episodes are like that.

the Sylvester episode was very good, but very bittersweet at the end of that.

ditto DeBarge.

ditto Zapp/Roger.

the Bar-Kays episode was sad at the beginning..

I actually keep putting off watching the Tammy Terrell episode - I KNOW that one's going to get to me.

it's essentially "behind the music" but featuring r&b/soul performers. still, it's GREAT to watch this program - I learn about & can "re-live" great experiences I've had from these performers.

"unsung" should be a requirement in middle school or high school - most of today's kids have NO IDEA about how GOOD & TALENTED these singers & musicians are..

I'll see you tonight..

I enjoyed this episode because it wasn't sad or heartbreaking to me like the other episodes. It was the most inspirational of the episodes I've seen so far.

It shows the brilliance and perseverance of Johnny. Everybody knows the greatness of Rod Temperton, they didn't really need him on the show. I would rather see a lecture or read a book on Rod's approach to songwriting and story behind the songs he wrote and produced.

Unsung don't really need all sad tragic stories, they just need to focus artist who don't get to have their story told often like Maze, Gap Band, Stephanie Mills, The Isley Brothers, En Vogue, Evelyn Champaign King, etc.

Yeah the Heatwave story was an example of triumph over adversity and tragedy.

Saw it. Really liked it. The only song I knew from Heatwave was Always and Forever. I mean I'd heard Boogie Nights and Groove Line obviously but I guess I didn't really put 2 and 2 together for some reason, plus the whole Rod Temperton thing. I had no idea about the entire Heatwave story really, so I enjoyed this one.

And yeah they all seem to end on such a sad note. But I mean I guess that's the whole point with some of these bands, that they could have been bigger had it not been for all these tragedies.

And we don't know, they might have asked Stephanie Mills and she turned them down... **shrug** Same for other artists. I guess they'd have to ask permission to feature them and I guess in Tammi's case or Teddy's the next of kin, etc.

Prince esta muerto...
