I believe they are announced sometime around the end of November, especially now since CBS has turned the nominations into a primetime music special. While a lot of TV and music critics have poo poohed this stunt, I think it has some merit, as it gets people excited about the awards show and who the potential noiminees are. Now if ABC would just get smart and have an exclusive one hour primetime Oscar nomination special instead of having an very early morning readoff of the nominees like they do now, they could possibly get more people to watch the Academy Awards when it comes on.

The eligibility period ended yesterday. The nominees are usually announced in the first week of December. | |

The 2011 Grammy nominations may not have been finalized yet, but we now know when we'll find out who's been nominated. According to the Grammy's official site, nominations will be revealed on Dec.1 as part of a one-hour, live Grammy nominations concert.
