Tina Turner "Lets Stay Together" Live I'll always prefer the original version, but Tina sang the hell outta this song! Tina is an underrated vocalist if you ask me. Her voice is so powerful and gritty, she can sing any type of genre of music. No one sounds like her. I love his performance. I would love to see her live.

By far, this has always been my favorite Tina Turner song. I may ruffle a few feathers by saying this, but I think her reading puts Al Green's version to shame! I remember back in '84 when I first purchased the 45 single, I played that thing to death! LOVE IT!!!! "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Wow, i'm suprised. I didn't think anyone preferred Tina's version over the original by Al Green. For me, his is the definitive version, but Tina definitely made the song her own. I love her version as well. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

Tina's version is definitely up there with Al's in terms of the both of them putting their stank into it, Tina more so because Al's had a more polished form lol but still the same.

I think it is. When people talk about great female singers, I usually see names like Aretha, Barbra, Whitney, etc. I hardly see Tina mentioned, unless it has to do with female rock vocalists perhaps. She gets praised for her music and for being an amazing performer, but her voice isn't praised nearly as much as say the likes of Aretha or Whitney. Yeah people know Tina can sing, but I don't think most realize what a phenomenal singer she really is. To be fair, over the past several years, the only people praising Whitney's voice are Whitney and Clive Davis.
But, I do agree that Tina's does not get the credit she deserves as a vocalist. Most people just don't realize how vast her catalog with Ike is and it is SERIOUSLY UNDERRATED! I'm talking when Tina was doing that gut-bucket soul singing. Some of that stuff is amazing! And, unless you are a diehard fan, people don't remember or recognize those songs and how incredible she sounded. They just remember what an incredible live act she has always been. Tina's voice got overlooked by the legs, the hair, the ageless looks, the dance moves, etc. Yeah I definitely don't think her voice gets the credit it deserves. It was VERY raw in the '60s and '70s. And I hardly see her in the annals of the greatest voices of all time in soul music but she should be. She's still technically a soul singer anyway even if her sound took a pop-rock turn in the '80s.
