Do you use your local Library to fill your iTunes?

A relative of mine showed me his iTunes filled with over 25,000 songs. I asked him if he was crazy for spending that much $!

He said, I got them all from three local libraries in the neighborhood. One of them, you can check out 25 CD's at one time! He just checks them out for free and rips them to his PC.

The collection was great, from classic albums to new releases. Do you use this method or know someone who has?

I'm getting a library card tomorrow! razz

I'm guilty of it but only for things that are mostly out of print and I never tell people about it lol.

I don't really understand the question, because I've never used iTunes or an iPod. But if I'm getting the basic concept right, anybody could rip their CDs, or download MP3s and upload them to their iTunes...err... library? Is that correct? Because I've got more MP3s than I would ever admit, but I purposely keep all software from cataloguing them. Don't want any of that information being sent back to vendors or organizations who may be monitoring such statistics via the internet.

I did used to check out and rip jazz CDs from the library back in the day. But right now it's actually easier to just download them via other means without ever leaving the house.

It's a great resource, but I kinda roll my eyes at people who have 25k songs from the library.

Because you gotta know the vast majority is shit they couldn't care less about. It's just a huge hoard of songs and time wasted ripping it all.
