The backstory of that had SO much drama disbelief lol

Much as folks keep bringing up the 90s R&B scene, I don't think Faye gets the deserved love here.

Thats why this thread is a perfect 10.

The most unbelievable thing about this song/thread is that 2 chicks were actually fighting over Biggie Smalls ill

He must be part Mr. Ed lol

That must be the only reason that will make a tribe of women(Faye, Kim, Charlie and the groupies) raise hell on each other for him.

But in all fairness, Faye has been taking the high while Kim is still looking for a chance to get her ass beat again by her.

Always liked Faith. nod Dig her uptempo jams. She's definitely underrated, though. Either that or she just gets too much hate... not really sure which. lol

I think Faith's career should've been bigger than what it was but I think when the first Faith album came out, she was kinda lost. First off, she was in a hectic marriage with the Notorious B.I.G., second, though she was credited with writing some of the ballads in Mary J. Blige's My Life, Sean Combs didn't even hide the fact that he copied the format of My Life verbatim on Faith (Mary would later accuse Sean for making Faith into another MJB after she and Faith had a personal fallout), third, with Blige as her friend, collaborator AND competitor, the media obviously would have their comparisons of the two (both wore blonde hair, both were street-smart, both had connections to Sean) and Bad Boy, fifth but not least, didn't really promote Faith as well as they should've because the album had some amazing songs on it. For a debut at the time it did well going platinum but I think it could've been better.

Faith's debut was the truth, even though it sounded like "My Life"........part 2.

I had her first CD I remember distinctly almost fighting a boy because it took it out of my dorm room while I wasn't there. My roomate's dumb ass let him in. That's how much I loved and played it...

...something happened tho.. her voice got.... annoying. I don't know what it was, but now I hear her sing and I'm just like OMGGG!!! It's ear splitting.

WHAAAAAAT? faint *Long Jamaican style teeth suckin'* no no no! disbelief

I thought she gained confidence vocally more than the first album. Remember, she started out as a session back-up singer, so the reserved attitude dominated in her debut album.

I think her finest studio moment "vocally" so far, was Faithfully. She showed off her range, and she also gave us a glimpse of her jazz background too(In "Love Can't Hide", she literally sounds like she was possessed by Ella's spirit when she sang the line You hold me in your loving arms, always).

Heard the samples from her new album and absolutely LOVED what I heard(I hope you do too) - but my ONLY issue with her, is the fact that I still think she hasn't been properly produced though,,,,,when I saw her performing "You & I" in a 1994 wedding footage, I was convinced right then & there that the women has been stifled by her producers, who should've highlighted all sides of her singing range.

I've neen trying to search it myself, youtube had a series of those clips. She was sporting a yellow Peppa-like wig.

Her singing was SERIOUS, she's the only vocalist nowadays who I would call a true Clark Sisters disciple.

People are really that serious about her being that GOOD of a singer, huh? To me, she sings in the same range-the same few notes. I don't buy that she is underrated.

I thought she was your average R&B chick until I saw her live, she sang a portion of a Clark Sisters song and right then I was sold.

Thats the thing though, she always put her foot down,,,,as opposed to her studio work. This performance for example...

In the studio she's more laid back (in comparison to say, Mary J.) but live, she does throw down lol

One of things that always strikes me about Faith is how similiar her vocals sound alot like The Clark Sisters especially her background vocals on the first album. Also, she did alot of background vocals on Usher's first Album circa 94", that's how I first got hipped to her...when I first heard Usher's debut my first thought was, "Wow, who is this girl singing backgound on this album?" Check the credits, and I was introduced to Faith...biggrin Aaron6
