I have been a Boy George/ Culture Club fan for over 10 years. He is a very underated artist and a very good singer/songwriter. I have almost all of his CDs, solo and from culture club. I would recommend getting them all, because they all have great songs on them.

cool

'Colour by Numbers'. Really, it's their best album. Lost of hits on it.

But mainly because it has 'Victims' on it. Just a brilliant song.

Not a bad song on there I think. It's my #1 album of 1983.

What are your thoughts on Cheapness and Beauty? I know I keep harping on that album, but dayum... it's so amazing. It's an incredibly powerful and personal album, really terrific songwriting and vocals.

One of the most unjustly overlooked and ignored albums of the 90s, in my opinion.

If you haven't heard it and are a fan of Boy George: seek it out now!!! cool

i feel obliged to note that boy george appears on mark ronson's new album "record collection" on a track called "somebody to love me". its a really funky house number (he does not sound like a robot) and it features george lamenting on growing older and finding someone compatible.

its probably the best track, but its a pretty solid album regardless. articles note that at recent shows the performance with george has been the highlight.

Agreed, it is a terrific song. I saw the performance on Jools Holland and it was fantastic.

The 2 of U piqued my curiosity, so I Youtube'd it.

thumbs up! I like it! nod

And I'd like to also share a gem from their obscure fourth album that Imentioned earlier;

I really loved them and their music.

To me they represent the 80's.

True dat. But my favorite song came from their "Waking Up With The House On Fire" Album, Mistake #3. Maybe because it sounds rather Princely. lol

Mine too. Amazing production and vocal.

All their albums are hit and miss, sometimes big misses, so I just mack the singles, which stack up to an incredible aray of soulful pop. Boy George was a very good singer.

I agree with this. Superb singer. Mostly the singles are the standouts, except I like the whole Colour By Numbaz record.

I have mixed feelings about Cheapness and Beauty. I love the ballads and the acoustic mid tempo things like Same Thing in Reverse, but not too big on the harder rock things. All of the songs have great lyrics but the harder rock stuff (even though generally I love rock) doesn't suit his voice.

Even though I love the song, this video shows why I've really gone off of him now. His voice is shot. It's just a raspy croak with no range. It's not pleasant to listen to anymore.

But on the main reasons why I went off of him was I loved Culture Club but for years he went on about how everything Culture Club did was terrible and how untalented and terrible people the other members of Culture Club were. It to me showed a lack of gratitude for the band that put him on the map and appreciation for his the fans that loved Culture Club's music that made him a global icon.

As a person, he has so totally turned me off that honestly I won't buy a record by him no matter how good it is.

Man this was probably one of my first videos (besides "Move Away") that I actually remember seeing of Culture Club. Of course I think on the same video show that aired this, they went back to their 1982-1985 material so I got familiar with their stuff (like I did with MJ, Prince and Madonna around the same time).

I think it's ego, drugs and bad blood that caused George to make those statements. I probably wouldn't approach him either because of his attitude so I feel ya.

As a guy who has lot's of gay friend's, he gives a lot of them a band name. Just his attitude, drugs and promiscuous lifestyle. Sadly a lot of people ignorantly associate that with gay people, and boy Gorge is one of those celebs that add's to it...

Plus he is just very disrespectful to people, but in the 80's in his interviews he seemed very happy with life and everything around him. And he seemed like a descent guy to... but thing's happen

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener
