I bought an import version of 'Smooth Talk' a few years ago.It doesn't have any bonus tracks.I'm happy that the bbr remaster includes the 12" versions of "Shame" and "I Don't Know If It's Right".This is important because the regular album versions aren't nearly as exciting. On the 12",these tunes sound much more lively.

nod the 12" mix of "I Dont Know If It's Right" is a must have.

A friend of mine is into producing dance music & for the longest while I have been telling him he needs to loop the intro to that mix & he would have one hot record on his hands.

Hot Property [Expanded Edition]
CDBBR0021

Heatwave : Hot Property [Expanded Edition]
PRE ORDER!!! NOVEMBER RELEASE!

Released on 8/11/10. During their most commercially successful years, Heatwave were a band that crossed many borders, laying claim to such international hits as Boogie Nights, Gangsters Of The Groove, Too Hot To Handle, The Groove Line and Always And Forever, all having a huge impact on both sides of the Atlantic. The members of Heatwave hailed from all over the Globe, making this group a truly international act in every sense and contributing to their unique and highly influential sound.

Having already enjoyed great success with their first two albums, 1979 saw the release of Heatwave’s third Top Twenty R&B album Hot Property. With Rod Temperton about to provide his contributions to Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall, he continued to write songs for Heatwave under the production of Phil Ramone. Ramone had already worked with artists such as Barbara Streisand, Burt Bacharach and Paul Simon, picking up where Barry Blue left off and helping Heatwave attain another Gold selling album in the USA.

The first USA single Eyeballin returned Heatwave to the US R&B top 30. British audiences were treated to the laid back groove of the hit Razzle Dazzle. BBR is proud to introduce this newly re-mastered edition featuring extensive liner notes with interviews from the band members and added bonus content including the fan favourite Birthday, a non-LP B-side

Razzle Dazzle / Eyeballin / The Night We Fell / Raise A Blaze / First Day Of Snow / One Night Tan / Therm Warfare / All Talked Out / That’s The Way We’ll Always Say Goodnight / Disco / Bonus Tracks / Birthday (7 Version) / One Night Tan (US 7” Version) / Eyeballin (US 12” Version) / Birthday (US 12” Version)

Heatwave : Candles [Expanded Edition]

Heatwave's fourth album, Candles, saw Johnnie Wilder Jr take on the producers role alongside James Guthrie, best known for his work with Pink Floyd, returning to work with Heatwave since serving as an engineer on both Too Hot To Handle and Central Heating.

Fresh off his success of contributions to Michael Jackson's Off The Wall album, Rod Temperton remained the bands chief songwriter penning a total of five tracks including hit single, Gangsters Of The Groove which provided Heatwave with further R&B chart success reaching #21 and gaining a top 20 UK pop spot accompanied by an early foray into music video. Further hits include the touching, R&B, Doo Wop flavoured single, Where Did I Got Wrong and the Rod Temperton penned UK Top 40 single Jitterbuggin, both of which helped drive this album into the UK Pop and US R&B Top 30.

Been listening to Evelyn for most of this afternoon & unlike The Three Degrees remaster which was flawless there are a couple of tracks that sound a bit flat sad

that said im still pleased with the purchase, in comparison to some of the remasters I have purchased over the years (bluebird records mad) its still a good package.

Funkytown are a bit hit & miss with their remasters

They did a great job on the Janice McClain reissue thumbs up!

But I was greatly disappointed by the "Hot Butterfly" reissue, especially as it was supposedly remastered by Tom Moulton hmm

Yeah, not everything comes from the original masters. Sometimes copied from clean lp-pressings,

but with today's technology i believe there's much more possible to update sound-recordings.

I must say that although FTG's reissues might not always be all that, if i look at their upcoming releases ...

Platinum Hook's original vinyl EP from 1983 is even still a good collector's item and often priced high.

And i once bought an earlier UK cd-reissue of the late Robert Brookins debut-album. That earlier pressing

didn't pop-up so often online if i remember. Good to see it's reissued. Solid album which demonstrates this talented brother who's missed.

Yes, be very careful of those Funky Town Groove reissues. I have a couple that sound half-way decent but there have been several reissues that were poorly mastered from vinyl, complete with hissing, pops and portions of songs being chopped off. The Melba Moore twofer for "Read My Lips" and "Never Say Never" is the worst.

Thanks Shango. I would definitely be interested in Chocolate Milk and Ca$hflow.

Chocolate Milk put the stank on Grand Theft and Girl Callin. As far as the BBR

masters i would probably only be interested in the Heatwave cd's. I already have

Champagne King's Get Loose on vinyl. I will convert that to cd myself.

They are slowly preparing the CDs you see on their site. My first order was 6 CDs and only after I had placed it I learned they only had 2 instock. The rest were still in the process.

Don't misunderstand me. I like to support them. They are releasing stuff I want. I'd only wish they were more efficient and clarify when you're pre-ordering an approximate date of release shrug

If you're considering getting them, know the only ones they have released so far are

Roberta Kelly's Troublemaker and Zodiac Lady

Munich Machine Selftitled and A whiter Shade Of Pale

Paul Jabara's 3rd Album

and Giorgio and Chris Love's In You, Love's In Me

A lot of Moroder, isn't it?smile

I love BBR and have bought several (5 I think) of their re-releases which I enjoy a lot and sound great. However, some people weren't happy with their Gloria Gaynor (which I don't have) remasters because the wav's clearly showed that the tracks were clipped.

They also do a very good job as far as artwork for the CD's are concerned, the booklets contain informative liner notes and single and label scans. Plus they redesign the cd's itself to resemble the original label that the album was on which I think is pretty neat (for example the CD of their June Pointer CD looks like the Planet records label although it's BBR).

Along with Hip-O, Reel Music and Edsel (who have been doing a great job in releasing Philadelphia International Records product for years), BBR is among the best reissue labels in my opinion. And I am amazed at the number of releases they have been able to put out in such a short time. PTG releases ALWAYS disappoint (crummy artwork and average sound) and with Funkytown Grooves it's hit or miss. Plus I'm reluctant to buy stuff from them straight away because a few months down the line they sell their cds in clearance sales for only a few euros each.

Just like the white winged dove...
