As far as performing, singing, composing and writing music, JB was a genius...but his personal opinions aren't worth a nickel to me. He was an excellent musician, but behind closed doors, a controlling, possessive and hypocritical maniac. I'd rather just listen to his music than to hear him judge other musician's performances. [Edited 9/27/10 6:31am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

That makes JB look not only a moron but a hypocrite. Going on about family entertainment etc-he's just a bloody liar. Funk in essence is about sex-and there is nothing wrong with that-its a dirty groove. He is so flaming typical of a Republican-same as Tories in the UK-banging on about values in public-then going home to their cellars and putting on their gimp masks.
And to endorse MJ over P...... jeez I think JB was jealous of Prince

Yeah, but Stevie was invited/honored by Nixon too and he isn't a Republican.
Even his music(James) defied what the Republican machine stands/stood for, it seems like an oxymoron to me.
Bill Cosby ironically is a democrat and all this time I thought he was a conservative Republican.

You gotta remember MJ and JB shared a very intimate paternal relationship. And JB knew him ever since he was a little kid. Its kinda like a God Father endorsing his God son, over some random performer (Prince,) No matter how great the other performer is, nepotism always wins. JB wasn't jealous, like most people he comes from a strong Gospel tradition, not a fan of explicit sexuality. Doesn't mean he's not explicit in his personal life. He will always be the eternal pimp, in my eyes I am a Rail Road, Track Abandoned

Drunk or not Michael didn't MAKE Prince make an ass of hiimself on that stage.
Prince wan't drunk, he was nervous, unprepared and out of his element. He doesn't usually do well in siuations over which he has no control and that little impromptu stage "performance" certainly qualifies.
I certainly don't think Mike was an angel, but Prince was responsible for his OWN actions on that stage. [Edited 9/27/10 9:39am] Prince esta muerto...

It's a good possibility. It is two-faced to talk about being wholesome in public but you're living a shady life off it. I love James' music but the brother was fucked up lol

James was the man................good thing Prince was his OWN man.

Mike in '83? pure fire on stage my friend.
What was that? 30 seconds and out. sing, remove glasses, tornado spin, replace glasses, signature move. hugs. Cool as fuck.
JB'd been watching MJ since the late 60's. Probably loved his Motown audition too. hence the endorsement [Edited 9/27/10 10:12am]

James first noticed him around '67 so yeah.

If you do not think P was drunk off his ass you need glasses. He has jumped on the stage with performancers before and managed not to knock over a stage prop and he looked like he was going to fall over coming to the stage. I am not sure how responsible you are for your own actions when you are bombed out of your mind.

( didn't move and say a word on the ride home from that gig) might be due to being in a canatonic stage of drunkness but keep drinking the MJ Koolaid.

Neversin and MJ Koolaid? you must be joking.
He never appears in MJ threads, or ever talks about him and he hasn't on this occasion either.

Prince was just being weird for the sake of it, he looks more drugged out than drunk imo
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
But was Prince really fucked up that night? I mean, I´ve seen that clip many many times and I know Prince acts a bit weird in it but still, I can´t really see any 100% sign of him being drunk or high that night. He went on stage, fooled around a bit, played a bit of guitar and that´s it. Do you think he had taken something that night? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I´m probably the only one who finds nothing wrong with Prince´s performance that night. Very unspectacular but still....not really embarrassing. Goes up on stage reluctantly and unexpectedly, picks up a guitar that is not his own, etc. All in all, pretty normal considering the circumstances. I doubt JB was jelous of Prince PRINCE: Always and Forever

I doubt it also. It doesn't make sense "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Plus Prince was a different animal in those days. I doubt James was looking at Prince in the way he looked at Michael probably. Prince wasn't trying to be James Brown's heir, he was trying to present himself to the public. This is what Prince was by 1983 so they weren't at all comparable.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
lol There's so much wrong with your post where does one even begin? How can you even try to argue something to which you have no clue of? No one knows Prince's state of sobriety at that point in time, except for the man himself. You were not there. Nor do you know if MJ knew anything about Prince's state of sobriety at that point either. No one knows except for the parties there. Stop acting like you aren't talking out of your ass.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Drunk or not drunk - the point is Michael didn't MAKE Prince do what he did. As a drunkard, Prince could've passed on out on stage (still not MJ's fault), Prince could've tripped (still not MJ's fault) or he could've walked around, sang beautifully, do an amazing guitar solo and walk off that stage wtih a swag (still not MJ's fault)... You're concluding that Michael controlled his behavior. On your last point, you are 100% responsible for your OWN action when you are bombed out of your mind.
In my opinion, I don't think Prince was drunk. He's acted this hyper in his own shows, if you ever saw a real Prince show. Yes, it was impromtu and he was messy and all over the place. Not a big deal. To me, it was all very funny.
