He just says that he doesn't like some parts of his show. I think some other older musicians said similar things about Prince at the time (mid-80s).

Man, I wish something like that would happen today between to major pop stars...Paparazzi would be all on it!

Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

Agreed ....fantastic post !

James Brown was 100% right about Prince and Prince changed his act!

Michael Jackson changed as well but he was unlucky he lost touch with his god and the drugs took him just like they did James Brown..

I can now understand Prince and his music better since these two fellow artist have past away!

My fav quote from this clip regarding Prince applies to these kids today..He was responding to a question in which he implied that Prince's show was dirty and said "Maybe somebody is telling him to do it....thing is the people telling him..don't want him to do it for there kids" If that ain't the music industry today I don't know what is

Ainnit the truth.

Not long before James' passed, I heard he told one of his closest friends that he hoped that Prince and MJ carry on the legacy of real music. So I doubt JB had ill feelings towards Prince, later on in his life. I believe it was one of JB's closest musician friend's that stated that not too long after JB's death at an interview I watched on tv.

Not quite, that was Al Sharpton who said James told him that he hoped MJ and Prince carry on the legacy of real music.

James was always looking at other folks who felt they didn't have to act all controversial to sell records. I know he was probably thinking the same thing about P-Funk. Difference is P-Funk were more like misfits than, say, Prince. lol

That's actually quite interesting. What did he think of P-Funk and some of the more outlandish acts that built on his legacy?

He didn't have much to say because he was in COMPETITION with them. Plus a few of them used to work for him before they jumped ship. evillol

I like that he said that. I really wish fans would take a cue from this and stop the whole Prince vs. Michael debate. It's tiring. We should be thankful for what they gave us.

LOL it was also pretty interesting how Michael disappeared from the stage as soon as Prince came on. I remember seeing that and thinking, "ok, now where did Mike go?" He probably didn't want the crowd to hear him sequealing in high-pitched laughter.

What's the pic babes, I can't see it.

Damn, I hate when that happens. It was Michael on the set of In The Closet bending over and laughing uncontrollably with Naomi.

Absolutely. James Brown seemed to have got over what he said about Prince in the past, and moved on. It was one of his closest friends who said JB want MJ and Prince to keep teaching the future generations about real music. I was happy to hear that because there is no way that JB was not aware that both MJ and Prince, had a little of him in their persona and music. He was definitely and influence in both their lives, and that goes without saying.

Yeah, that was Rev Al's last convo with JB, but JB also told Mr. Bobbit that he had planned to do some things with Michael and Prince. Funny how those two were on his mind at that particular time. He couldn't have known that Mike would follow him three short years later. sad

Anyway, in the video he did make it clear that he thought a lot of Prince's talent even though he didn't approve of that one aspect of his shows.

lol Michael didn't make Prince have Chick carry him to the front, try to play a guitar that was way too big for him, take off his jacket and gyrate all over the stage, then pull down a lamp post prop. Prince did that all on his own.

Wow you MJ fans are fucking clueless. Mike had to know P was drunk (which is what it looks like to me) and many people have said Mike was a little slick manipulator. Look at what he did to Terrence Trent Darby. MJ is not the angel that a lot of his fans think he was.

I wonder if some of you guys were around in the early 80s. Black acts were not getting airplay on Pop stations. If you did not crossover and move some records you were going to be gone. P knew he had to do something wild to get attention and not get stuck in the RnB world.

In addtion, he took a lot of his humping the guitar stuff from Jimi Hendrix he just took it further than Jimi did.

I am not knocking JB someone his age and from the RnB world would have no clue as to what P was trying to do but keep in mind someone JB's age was not the target audience P was trying to reach at the time.

No. It was just a rumor. To be honest, Prince looked scared out of his mind. He surely didn't wanna be called on but James of course insisted he come.

That's what I think. For all we know, Michael probably knew Prince was a fan

and what an introduction it was lol

Other stars were at the show. David Bowie, Cher, and Bette Midler were there too I think

No one knows if prince was drunk (which i highly doubt) except the ppl that were with him and in that case why would his show up at his idols concert wasted? michael didnt put a gun 2 his head and make go up on stage and make that lampost fall. (*sarcastic voice* i bet mike waz with his bodyguards and said 'hmmm prince is drunk so let me tell james 2 invite him up so he can knock over a lampost' ) get real disbelief and calling mj a" slick little manipulator" is like calling prince in that situation " an innocent victim of mj's diabolical plot 2 sabotage his career"

Prince wasn't drunk he was sober as fuck and didn't move and say a word on the ride home from that gig after the fiasco (per Bobby Z.)...

He tried to impress JB on stage with the mic move when JB looked away and didn't see it, that fucked Prince up the most... He just didn't know what to do in front of JB...
