She's gotta be given a little credit I think. Over 10 million in America. No, didn't have the same impact on a worldwide scale but it's enough to be called a success. At least she used to be.

William Hung hahaha lol

That one made me laugh. Seriously, I hope we do.

Just for the sake of Power Rangers diversity America seems to strive

for, which is awesome. Someone will just have to come along with

enough drive, and a craploud of market-ability in this day and age.

(It would have been a lot easier say like 20 years ago then now.)

Not to verge off course but my friend was offered a record deal

in the early 90s, and basically, he would have had to pay it back

if his record flopped. It was with Capital Records. So anyway, like

then it might have been easier. Now, with the industry peeps all being

about $, it might be tougher. I'm shocked none of the asian TV stars

haven't tried to make it over here. Just a thought.

Tbh, I don't see many Asian superstars even trying to appeal to the American market. The only ones I've seen that have are BoA, Charice, Utada and The Wonder Girls.

If he plays his cards right, Rain (a singer and actor from South Korea) could be the superstar but who knows? I think Rain was in a movie that was released here but the name escapes me.

Rain was in Speed Racer, and the lead in Ninja Assassin.

As for an Asian superstar, I hope so. Utada has tried twice (and she is HUGE in Japan) but it never took (which is sad, cuz "This is the One" was a very very good album) ... I hold out hope though.

From what I have read, isn't Freddie Mercury of Asian descent? PEr Wikipedia:

Mercury, who was a Parsi born in Zanzibar and grew up there and in India until his mid-teens, has been referred to as "Britain's first Asian rock star

Yeah, but for some reason people from India aren't considered Asian I guess. I suggested once that Norah Jones was the most successful Asian artist in the US and lots of people disagreed with me.

Yeah, I agree, I've noticed that. It's totally bizarre. Which continent do people think India is in anyway? lol

It also blows people's minds when they learn that most of the middle east is in asia.

I kinda like Rain and definitely liked Ninja Assassin. I thought that would really make people take more notice of him here (US) but doesn't seem like it. Outside of film, doesn't seem likely anytime soon.

In a way I am too. I would've bought her last album had I not seen Lil' Wayne's name on it. lol

Lil Wayne's name is like finding MSG or lard in the listing of ingrediets. If I see his name, it's going back on the shelf. Had to give Erykah a pass on Up in the Air tho. lol

Wasn't too crazy about Amerie's last release except for a few tracks.

Ugh I was so disappointed when I read that she had done that song with him in it. I think I have to check the track listing of that album I don't think he's on it but idk lol lol

YES.

The moment I read the title of this thread I immediately thought of Rain. I'm really surprised he's not well known in the US. I've been a fan of his since like 2006.
