It felt like a flop at the time. I never thought it would see a reissue or that Weezer would still be around.

It was a flop at the time - a huge let down. Even for people like me who absolutely worshiped the Blue Album. But over the years in between Pinkerton and the Green Album it become somewhat of a cult album. I fought it for a while, but some friends of mine who were as big into Weezer as I was finally played it enough that I fell in love with it. I still don't think it's better than Blue, but it's a damn fine album for sure. However, part of what makes this version so great is the extras! You Gave Your Love To Me Softly, Devotion and I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams (with that dog.) are all-time Weezer favorites for me. And I've had the Y100 session for a decade. But getting to hear the original album, all that stuff AND a bunch of unreleased songs in their shiny new remastered state is pretty dang exciting.

See, I never "got" The Rentals. I'm still bummed that Matt left Weezer and never returned. lol I think there was actually a chance of that happening a few years ago but they stayed loyal to Scott and kept him, instead.

I loved that first Rentals album, but always thought it was just a side project departure from Weezer, like Tom Tom Club was to Talking Heads or something. But I always expected he would go back to Weezer.
