Black Bob,
I'd try the Sony Legacy vinyl remasters (2010). Transfers were done in analog from the original masters. Readily available and quite a bit cheaper than finding 1st pressings. Electric LadyLand seems to be the standout of the set. Axis IMHO was very well recorded for the time. For live Hendrix vinyl, seek out 'In the West' (Polydor Deluxe) OOP on CD and 'Band of Gypsys' (Green Capitol Label). Prefered masterings are by Robert Ludwig (can be indentified by 'RL' initials etched into the deadwax (run-out groove).
If you prefer CD do a search for Jimi at the Steve Hoffman forum to see what the consensus is for best CD pressings. His catalog as been through so many iterations (not for the better) with compression, no-noising, etc. and compilations are generally very poorly mastered and a dime a dozen...
Good luck with your search
