I don't have this one on CD at all, only on vinyl. But ALL of my other EW&F CD's sound flat! I hope they get around to remastering them all (...especially "Gratitude"). Same goes for all my Stevie Wonder CD's; they all sound flat.
Thanks for sharing this info. It may have been a long time before I would have noticed it on my own. "There's Nothing That The Proper Attitude Won't Render Funkable!"

Stevie's Songs In The Key Of Life on CD sounds flat?!! My CD must sound different from your's! I think you need a new sound system dude! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I think 'Raise' and 'Powerlight' are the only two EW&F CDs that still need to be remastered. There is a recent reissue of 'Electric Universe' on the market but I don't know if it's a remaster. |

Not a fan of BBR releases. They're brickwalled and obviously done on the cheap. Will pass on this. The original CD is fine. |

I Hope they fix the part at the end of "Song In my Heart." - Right when Larry Dunn takes his Mini Moog solo, sounds like the tape is all messed up, but they left it in when they first released this on CD. The Vinyl is better and you don't hear it as much. Love the song, but that is so ANNOYING to me. |

Yep,I know the part you're talking about It annoys me too because that's one of the best tunes on the album.I hope they fix it on the remaster. |

Wait! - You'll end up buying this again later.
Raise is getting the dlx treatment. I know someone working on it now.
Bonus Tracks will include:
"Let's Groove" - promo only /holiday version & Instrumental Version
"Kalimba Tree" - Full 4 min Version - (this was the b-side to "I've Had Enough)

The most surprising thing about Faces is that Maurice White guaranteed the then-double LP would dissatisfy. "Win Or Lose" is excellent as are a few other selections, but overall Faces is chock-full of filler material which foreshadowed EWF's musical decline. The PowerlightCD, in contrast, is nearly impossible. A total waste with the exception of two songs. |

I actually dug Powerlight a lot. It was much better than Faces imo. Faces which does
have a few solid tracks or so seems pretty much dated with Let Me Talk being
one of the few outstanding tracks on it. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint |

my only problem with 'Faces' is.....for a 2-record set, there's not much experimentation and most of the songs sound alike. They had alot of room to stretch out and try new things but they mostly play it safe.An entire side of this album should have been devoted to their jazz/Afro-latin roots. The album needed more songs like the title track.
But when it's good,it's very good."Sailaway" is just heavenly."Back On The Road","And Love Goes On","Song In My Heart" and "Share Your Love" are decent tracks as well. |

Dont forget Pride!!!!! Nice and Funky
Problem is, that EWF had set the bar so high with their previous recordings that many critics didnt like FACES because to be truthful, it did play it safe.....but I still maintain that it is a very good EWF album....not all albums have to be genre busting masterpieces....
much better than Powerlight, Electric Universe, Heritage, In the Name of Love |

that's actually one of my least favorite EW&F albums The two singles are great ("Fall In Love With Me" and "Side By Side") but most of the other tunes are mediocre. |

Honestly, I lost touch with EW&F right around Faces/Raise! at which point all their songs began to sound the same to me. The intro to "Let's Groove" got me all excited, then the song went right back into the usual EW&F formula, at which point I was essentially done with them.
They never stopped being an exceptional band, in my opinion. But for me, I just got tired of that exact same sound (...as awesome as that sound was). "There's Nothing That The Proper Attitude Won't Render Funkable!"

To me, EW&F peaked with I Am...and I just couldn't get into their material the same way again. Everything previous to I Am was immaculate IMO though and I listen to these albums on an on-going basis. Basically, I feel the same. Though I hung in there for another album or two just based on their past reputation. "I Am" was about the last album that I felt completely good about, as I'm sure there's music on their latter albums that I've never even heard (...kinda breaks my heart to say that, lol).
