I had forgotten what Bob said in that site about George and I was actually angry with what he said. Props to Shock G.
Indeed an amazing read... To me Bob Davis just sounds like some whiny jealous bitch...

Shock G says that George Clinton walked out of the studio once he found out Zapp was in cahoots with Warners (George's parent label) and moved on, never mentioning it again ... but Zapp's Wikipedia page says that George, Roger Troutman and Warners were involved in a lawsuit that ended up with George & Funkadelic leaving Warners.
At least 5 sides to this story - George's, Bootsy's, Zapp's, Mo Ostin's and the truth. |

He is a whiny jealous bitch and all that bull about G.Clinton and the FBI is just fucking crazy.
George and Funkadelic/Parliment were about 10 years a head of everybody else music wise and they never changed their music to cross over and if Bob thinks young people in the 70s would have moved toward Miles Davis electric music instead of P-Funk he is smoking crack and he is much too hard on George's drug issues since Sly and Miles were both fucked up as well and disappered for years. Drugs or no drugs George is still out on the road doing his thing. If white rock stars can get a pass and credit why can't George |

This is why I love P-Funk and George. Sure the band is unbelievable and the production is fantastic, but it is the lyrical content that always gets me off. So silly, so fun, yet really introspective. I dare anyone to read that and not crack a smile while thinking "damn thats deep".
I once read an article that dissected the lyrical content of Bootsy tracks like "Rubber Duckie" that was equally hilarious/deep. To dismiss George or P-Funk as puppets is blasphemy. The only funk puppets I know of are Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
Shock G is a brilliant fella, isn't he? I don't know if anyone could have said it better. |
